So I guess that's all Peja does and how he got his more than 5 rebs a game....yeah, he shoots a lot of threes, but that's not all he does. Peja shot a bit more than 4 a game last season, Boki a bit more than 3 (in less minutes). http://www.nba.com/draft2002/profiles/bostjan_nachbar.html http://www.nba.com/playerfile/predrag_stojakovic/?nav=page We all know almost nothing about Boki, so what do you know if Sane is correct or not. Don't label him this or that yet. All I know is the report from one of the workouts where he drained almost 20 three-pointers in a row or something like that. I still hope Boki can be a three-point threat AND a slasher. Just give him some minutes, Rudy. Please!
Posey is impressing me every game. I sure hope he doesn't demand $50m this summer, though. He's seriously one of the fastest transition wingmen I've seen in a long time, like a gazelle. SJC, If it is any consolation, Rudy has said that Boki will start getting minutes while Rice is out. It is just that he wants to pick his spots based on matchups, which is what he did with Griffin last year. He said that he did not want him to face Marion or Walker/Pierce, who are excellent defenders and tough defensive assignments. I suspect we'll see him against the Lakers and Dallas though. Also, Rudy flat out said (on the radio) that Boki does not have the jumper of Peja, but is a better driver. He mentioned Peja by name. I trust that over those draft profiles. I think that is where people are saying he's got a sweet jumper, but not the Peja range or quick release.
Now that is really ridiculous. The good news here is that it is only a feeling. Correction: Trading away Possey WAS NOT an awful deal as far as Denver is concerned. They did what they wanted to do - off load and join in the Lebron sweepstakes + getting extra draft picks (for a player, Possey, who they would have lost next year due to Free Agency).
I'm starting to like Posey's game. When he first came into the Rockets, I wasn't so sure of what his style of play were. But lately i've notice that he has been making some contribution with his defense of course and also scoring by...... MOVING AROUND. I'm not sure if Rudy is using that 5 man motion but when Posey moves around, he moves at perfect timing to get the open shot and grabbing the loose balls. GO POSEY!!!!!!
Again, its not an opinion about Nachbar's game. His game involves slashing and hitting the midrange shot. He CAN hit the three, but thats not the type of player he is. http://www.ibiblio.org/craig/draft/2002_draft/Players/nachbar.shtml Nachbar is 6-8 and while he doesn't have traditional European shooting range, he shoots it pretty well and could potentally play some two in the NBA. "The best thing about him is his last three steps. He explodes," says his Benetton coach, Mike D'Antoni. "He gets to the rim real quick. He avoids contact and finishes left and right." David Aldridge - ESPN.com (May 19th) The guy shot 3 pointers at a rate of 34%. That is fairly low for a "3-point" shooter. Anyways, you keep saying that we know nothing about his game. In fact, there have been many reports about how he plays the game. Therefore, as Sane originally mentioned, Boki and Peja are different players. Peja is more of a shooter while Boki is more of a "attack the basket" kind of player. Peja's 5 rebounds a game is irrelevant.
Last season, Nachbar made 37.4 % of his threes. It's on the link I posted. Peja is making 36.6 % so far this season. But who cares. That's not my point. I think we all don't want him to stand around and only shoot threes anyway. My only point is we don't really know what he is or is not until he gets some freaking minutes, finally.
The international 3 point line is about the same distance as the college three point line. Peja shot 36.6 from the NBA line with NBA defense.
Yeah, Posey has been impressing me more and more every game I watch. I was concerned that it would take time for him to fit into the flow of the Rockets, but he's put those concerns aside. I think he's earned the opportunity to keep the starting role when Rice comes back. Posey's exciting to watch. I'm glad we acquired him in that trade, and I really do hope he'll consider staying in Houston after this contract expires. I dunno if we can throw as many dollar signs at him as some other teams, but I hope he finds some intangibles in and around Houston that he simply can't pass up.
Wouldn't Posey be better served as a sixth man since he does energize the team? He would also be more of an offensive focal point playing with mostly the second team while being guarded by a second stringer. But I'm not talking about the crap before that Rudy did when Posey got 20 mpg. We need to play Posey 30mpg and Rice for about 15mpg. IMO, Posey would provide a nice spark off the bench in the first half because that's the type of player he is: PLAYS HARD! Anyways, whenever he comes in the game, the guy deserves to play at least twice as much as Rice.
AAAHHHH!! Please recall my topic last week: Hey Rudy: PLEASE DONT WASTE JAMES POSEY I wonder where he would be if injuries hadn't forced Rudy's hand? Dallas Rocket
