Im not going to be one of those ass clowns who predicts a royal ass kicking like some Tech fans. I think its going to be close and I think, given the fact that we cant win in Austin, that UT will come out on top by a TD or FG. At least thats where my money is at. Both teams will easily combine to score 100+ points, and the Texas Tech defense will look like a total joke on national television once again.

    Who's going to the game?

I believe Texas will actually win, especially now that they have discovered how to run the football.

I dont see Tech keeping it close honestly. Is UT's pass D as bad as people claim it is?If it is I suppose Tech has a chance but I dont see how UT can be that bad in the secondary. All they have to do is make a few stops and they pretty much have the game. I dont see Tech stopping UT to many times. Vince Young will have a field day running the ball. It wont be close. Maybe if it was in Lubbock it would be differnt, our defense isnt to bad up here but on the road they are simply the worst in the nation.

But go Tech! Prove me and 99% of the your fans wrong!

I'll be in my usual seat on the 25 yd line, Section 27, Row 34.

Tech really doesn't stand a chance in Austin. The last two meetings here have resulted in 58-7 and 45-7 blowout wins for Texas. Granted this year's Red Raider squad is more explosive, but this game won't be close for a number of reasons.

    1. Rejuvenated Longhorn running game. Cedric Benson and Vince combine to make the best QB-RB rushing threat in the Big XII. Benson's running like he did at Midland Lee, which has been bad news to his latest victims, Nebraska and Okie State. Vincent is averaging 9 yards per carry.

    2. Push from the front 4. Last year the Longhorn D-line was decimated with injuries to Kalen Thornton and Marcus Tubbs, who both stayed in Austin. Rod Wright played hurt. As a result, Tech's O-line easily punished Texas' 4 man pass rush, and Kingsbury had more than ample time to find Glover and Welker wide open. This year Rod Wright, Tubbs, Thornton, and superstud freshman Tim Crowder are all healthy. Add in a breakthrough year for highly touted Lindale HS sophomore DE, Mike Williams, and BJ Symons is screwed.

    3. Longhorn LB blitz packages. Reed Boyd notwithstanding, Texas LBs have big playmaking ability on the blitz. BJ will be forced into making several bad throws under pressure from MLB Aaron Harris, and Butkus Award Finalist, WLB Derrick Johnson.

    4. Roy Williams. This guy is so good, he deserves his own mention. Tech doesn't have a single DB who can stay within 5 yards of our Biletnikoff finalist WR. Ricky Sailor is in for a long night.

    5. Home field advantage. Texas has lost only 1 game since October 1999 at Royal Texas Memorial Stadium. The game is a 6PM kickoff, leaving ample time for the Orangebloods to get rowdy. With the Fiesta Bowl bid on the line, the Horns will take it to the Red Raiders this weekend.

Mack admitted last year the Horns were not focused going to Lubbock. This year he has been to hell and back, and we will take care of business. If you asked me 4-5 weeks ago, I would have predicted a Tech win.

Horns have absolutely dominated Nebraska and OSU, two teams that are both better that Tech. They are playing well in all facets of the game. TT's beaten nobody all season.

    UT in a romp, 52 - 14.

I've learned to never count anyone out of any game. This is especially the case with Tech. I can't even make a prediction on the game, but I'll be there. I guess I'm just too cautious with letdowns and our staff.

I watch the secondary alot and they aren't as good as their ranking. They do get beat and were getting beat against OSU, but due to pressure on Fields, OSU got one-dimensional and was shut down. If Fields had time, he could have passed all over us just as White did.

So, it really depends on our secondary. It doesn't matter if we have a running game, if Vince runs all over the place, if we control the time of possession, or if it's Senior Day. Tech can score in a matter of seconds. Getting pressure from the front four doesn't matter if they throw quick strikes out of a 3 step drop.

This is what needs to be done:
    1. Symons needs to be hit a bunch early to get him rattled
    2. Our corners better play physical. If they're laying back in a zone, we will get picked apart.
    3. Make Tech kick FG's instead of TD's.
    4. Wrap up on the tackles
    5. Safeties stay home always
    6. We need to put up 40 +

The home crowd and senior night are great and all. Being pissed about last year is nice too. The bottom line is that our secondary better be prepared, and if things aren't working, Reese better figure out the right adjustments.

I hope we win. I wouldn't be surprised if we blew them out, but I'm reluctant to get too sure about it.

    Well, let's see:

    1. Our offense is almost as productive as Tech's.
    2. Their defense is nowhere as productive as ours.
    3. It's in Austin.
    4. Texas has been playing their best football of the season lately, including smacking the living **** out of a team that defeated Tech.
    5. BJ Symons is half-lame and likely to get smacked around more. VY is well, not only healthy... but also some sort of football deity.6
    6. The "talent" card (which some people dislike so much) ;).

All that said, I do think some Texas fans are taking this game for granted too much. Everyone's already assuming we're in the BCS, provided certain bizarre scenarios don't happen. Tech is a good team. Realistically, I think we should win comfortably. But they're good enough to win if they get a few breaks and our players get cocky.

Damn, Baqui I'm in the same section just 30 rows up from you, some killer seats still though.

Oh and Texas is gonna romp Lubbock Community College, a lot of these guys still have a bad taste in their mouth from last year in Lubbock and I really think they have their sights set on a BCS bowl. As long as our defense plays up to the standards they've set for themselves over the last few games and our running game is at least half as dominant as it has been, I think this game should be a joke. Anyway you cut it though, Tech loses in a blow out. I'm looking forward to attending my last home game as a student and seeing my Horns kick the hell out of the Raiders.

I know you didnt call it a Community College. I mean that is probably one of the most ignorant things I have ever seen posted on this board.

Must have been a typo on your part right?

You've officially made my **** list Turbo.

    What Drewdog said.

I hope Tech can come out on top, but realistically it's not a great chance, but Tech always has a shot against anybody, so don't count em out.

I haven't gotten to say this in a while, but....ahem....(clearing throat) WE'RE NOT RIVALS!!!!!

It's kinda sad now to see Texas A&M and Tech hating so much- it's almost as if Texas Tech finally has a legit rival, and they don't have to create a flavor of the month one each year. Oh wait- BOTH teams need to win in order for it to be a rivalry. So, since the Raiders keep pounding the Ags, that ain't a rivalry either. Oh well. :(

Seriously, I think UT is the better team and should win. They have a long line of TT dominance in Austin. But the Red Raiders are always a scary bunch, especially when our secondary has not been as stout this year. With so much to play for, and the revenge factor, Texas should take care of business. That doesn't mean I'm not nervous, though.

Yeah but we beat you guys every other year or so, so maybe its time to quit underestimating Tech's team.

    Interesting.

    Now what'st he all-time score?

It always was amazing how good Dykes was at getting his team up for the Texas/TAMU games. Always worried me, no matter what the records were.

Texas doesn't view Tech as a rival because even when they've beaten us... we still generally go to a better bowl. If Tech started beating us and having better overall seasons... I guarantee you guys would get respect and some people would start thinking of it as a rivalry.

Also, it wouldn't surprise me if you guys replace TAMU as #1 on our collective in-state **** list. If Franchione is as bad of a coach as he's looked this year (I don't care about the record, but that team has quit)... TAMU might be in for a long, long drought.

It'll be the greatest defensive performance ever.

UT: 84 (with 7 tds on int returns)
    Tech: -4 (yes, that's right, a -4)

Both the above two comments didn't hold at all against OU. Our front 7 with the exception of DJ looked terrible in that game, as they did the year before against Tech and OU as well. If the Texas D front 4 at least plays even with the Tech OL--occasionally putting pressure, Texas wins by 2 TDS or so. If Texas D front 4 manhandled Tech's OL like OU's front 4 did last year--Tech will lose by 40.

I am thinking Texas DL and LBs don't dominate, but play well enough, like 45-20 Texas or something like that. Tech honestly has a better chance home against an overconfident OU than away against a Texas team with last year's result in mind.

BTW there is no reason Boyd should be on the field in this one. DJ and at most 1 other quick LB like Harris (who I might line up at an end anyway), 5-6 DBs and 3-4 DLs should be in the game.
