Well we can look at it this way:
We all won't be screaming into the TV everytime Swift drops the ball or rims a dunk this season :)

I am just waiting for Swift's comments.

Reporter: So Stro how do you feel about coming back to Memphis?

Stro: I just have one thing to say, F#@k You Van Gundy!

Agreed, but I'd also like to hear from CD what Plan B is now that MJ is a Wolf.

Wrong. This ain't 2004. T-Mac's backups are Steve Novak and Keith Bogans (assuming he accepts the offer and re-signs). Ryan Bowen will likely be cut unless somehow there's a 15th roster spot left for him...in fact, I don't see how Ryan Bowen stays on the roster when you've got prospects like Pat Carroll waiting in the wings.

And while I realize everyone here thinks Juwan Howard is the devil's grandson incarnate, I surely am not shedding any tears over Stromile. (Btw Van Gundier, I love you.)

well said.. they're not gonna give their guys bad press, so there's no point in being upset over what Jerry West says about his acquisitions

Hmm, sounds like another (likely to fail) attempt to motivate Stro.

Plus Mike Fratello hates Swift as much as JVG does. He's probably gonna be shipped out again eventually.

This is the best that West has to say?

...to create learning opportunities for our young players? Please ... I'm glad that our GM isn't happy about our trades so we can watch special athletes and their learning opportunity.

    Amen.

Gay would've addressed our issues from 2-4. He's a fast, long, athletic player that can guard the 2, backup Tracy, and even play the 4, a la Shawn Marion but even taller. That 1 guy would've helped all those issues...

Swift just wasn't given the chance. We expected him to be a dominating PF here, but what he should've been was just help for BOTH Tracy and Yao - a complimentary piece. He usually played with only one on the floor.

Imagine a rotation of Tracy/Gay on the 3, and Swift/How/Gay on the 4. That would be DEEP. The only thing we would be addressing right now is a SG/Combo guard.

He's being honest. They don't have much money to spend to acquire any kind of big name guys to get them over the hump. In fact, I believe the organization lost money last year, despite having a new stadium. So, no real opportunity this offseason to take on more salary with E.Jones' giant expiring contract.

The ony reasonable thing to do now is to take a step back, give up their 2nd best player, and give some playing time to Gay and Dahntay Jones and hope they develop.

Jerry West actually got in trouble because he said something to the effect of "Who cares about the fans.....etc." before the draft. He had to publically apologize to Memphis. It was an awkward situation.

I'm not sure that several more years of mediocrity are something to look forward to. In fact I am quite sure of it.

I have a very bad feeling we're going to have another lottery season to look forward to.

    :(

We can look on the bright side that we did not overpay for James. Yay.....

    What!?!

Last year we were damned by injuries putting a lot of role players in the spotlight, hence our terrible shooting %. God willing a year of relatively good heath will make last years abortion a distant memory.

I think T-mac is primed for a BIG BIG year and if Yao continues to play the way he did in the 2nd half, whew, all the role players have to do is make shots which I think Bat will make have to earn his money.

If you believe that because we did get Gay we'll be damned to mediocrity then you really need to join reality.

Gay was not going to make or break our future. Would I like to have him with the Roxs, yep but did I think he was going to put us over the top, hell no.

Good luck Stro. You took a risk on Houston. You might've sucked, but you bet on us last year.

I can't get over how bad this trade is.

They could've at least asked for a bag of doritos.

Wrong? Bogans is a UFA and no offer has been made IIRC, do you have any inside info.?

And where on earth did you come up with the notion that Bowen will be cut? Did you just make that up? The fact is that JVG will always be a Bowen fan and will always take his hustle/defense over offense. Novak maybe the shooter we've been wanting, but trust me, JVG is noting his lapses on D. And I wouldn't be suprised for 1 second if Bowen sees more time than Novak next season.

As far as Pat Carroll...the guy performed just as well last season and didn't make the team. Bowen will not be cut to make room for Pat Carroll.
