LOL. definitely some truth in that. on the other hand, i love the sappy song/all-the-world's-problems-wrapped-up-in-30-seconds-with-small-gestures endings as much as i like anything on tv. i can't really explain why. i guess because the songs are always great and i like when my sitcom characters are happy at the end of episodes. i just don't see how the show goes on without the JD/turk connection. it's the best part of the show. i mean it could be decent i guess, but nothing like it is now.
Well this sucks. Of all the new shows this year, alot looked enertaining, but I only really got into 3 of them. Studio 60, Jerricho, and Kidnapped. It sounds like 2 of the 3 will be gone shortly. Hopefully Jerricho(sp?) sticks.
Damnit... I loved this show, and it was finally starting to develop some real depth of the characters. Any show that has the line, "Because NBS could put camera on two people masturbating and it would be among the least embarassing things on the network", or something to that effect, should NEVER BE CANCELLED. I do think they tried to be a little to smart for their own good. Some of the banter back and forth sounded less like smart people having an intelligent conversation and more like actors trying to sound like smart, funny people attempting witty banter. Didn't flow naturally. But the show was definitely good and getting better. In the words of King Arthur from Monty Python's Search for the Holy Grail, "You make me sad."
60 is too serious for a show about a comedy show. See 30 Rock. I bet 60 costs way too much per episode to see if Aaron Sorkin can find the show some legs.
What? Whose quote is that? Who's worried about mens' bodies and whether they are "nice" or not? What's wrong with Zach Braff's body? I'm sick of this pseudo macho persona everyone needs to display. Since when is Zach Braff's music obscure? Coldplay? Simon and Garfunkel? Cary Brothers? Regina Spektor? Fiona Apple? Yes, he does find new music he wants others to hear, but he doesnt go overboard about it as a lot of people do (then diss well known bands like Coldplay just because theyre popular). You make me so made for that post. You make me so mad I could cry...
I think there was actually a Friends blessing. That was a mediocre - crappy television series that lasted far longer than it should have, and made them all a lot of money, and gave them opportunities to further their career. Without some sort of blessing or guardian angel that show should have never gotten past the pilot. The main curse comes from them picking crappy shows post Friends.
All of these shows pale in comparison to Battlestar Galactica. Tune into SciFi channel Friday nights at 8pm. Holla.
You would think the four sad faces would have been enough to tell... But I think it's my turn then... Oh, hey... my name is Joke, too. You didnt need to tell me who you were, however. I recognized you coming in. You're not the only one who can have that name...
The reports are false. This is how it starts...People hear a show's cancelled and they stop watching. The "cancellation rumors" are due to the fact that it was replaced last night by Friday Night Lights. Studio 60 has a multi-part story arc all set to start during November sweeps. So the option was either a Studio 60 repeat or a new Friday Night Lights. In fact NBC has just ordered three new scripts for the show. Studio 60 will run the whole season, 20+ episodes. It will not be put on the much dreaded "hiatus".
That part doesn't really mean anything, though. Last year, the networks ordered additional scripts for "Threshold", "E-Ring" and "Out of Practice". None of those shows ended up making it a full season.
Uhhh, yeah, Friedman mentions that in his article. Like I mentioned before, it is a reporter for Fox News, so the article isn't the most unbiased, but the fact is that Studio 60 has gone down in ratings every single week and has lost 40% of its viewers in just five episodes. This isn't some little rinky-dink sitcom that they can afford to "give more time". Studio 60 is an expensive show to produce. Unless there is a serious ratings spike in the next few weeks, say goodbye...
People compare 60 to the West Wing, which is not unexpected with the same creator and a couple of actors coming over, but I think it could very easily be compared to another Sorkin/Schlamme show - SportsNight. Both are dramadies about backstage at a television show. Both focus less on the on air happenings than on what the people involved in making the show have going on in their lives. Both have the characters care a lot about what happens with their show (people generally care about their own lives, even if they are not working at the white house). Maybe if they had not put Bradley Whitford in the producer role, but had used Josh Charles or Peter Krause, they wouldn't have had this problem.
