Parcells finalizes four-year deal to coach Cowboys -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- By Chris Mortensen Special to ESPN.com Bill Parcells told ESPN today he has officially agreed to become the coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Parcells said he and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones finalized the deal this morning and another source said that he had signed a copy of a four-year contract worth $17.1 million. Parcells will be formally introduced Thursday at a late-afternoon news conference in Dallas as he assumes the reins of a team that has suffered through three consecutive 5-11 seasons. "I'm going to do it," said Parcells, breaking a three-year hiatus from the NFL. Parcells, 61, becomes the sixth coach of the Cowboys and replaces Dave Campo, who was fired Monday. Parcells has not coached in the NFL since the 1999 season with the New York Jets. He won two Super Bowls with the New York Giants, reached the Super Bowl with the New England Patriots and went to the AFC championship game with the Jets.
SWEEEET! Yeah, Cowboys sucked me back in again!!!! Dude gots alot of work ahead of him, but I think he can turn them around. With a good offseason, I wouldn't be suprised if they make the playoffs next year! GO COWBOYS!!!!!
whoa, whoa, slow down their sparky... get a solid qb first, then you can talk! not many rookies or former baseball players can lead a real NFL franchise to the promised land.
If Simms ends up in Dallas I will laugh my ass off. Can you just imagine the extraordinary amount of scrutiny he would be under by staying in our great state? Imagine Jake Plummer, but about 1,000,000 times worse.
If Simms comes to Tennesse I will officially denounce my Oilers/Titans allegiance after nearly 25 years. Can ya tell I'm not his biggest fan?
Can't help but laugh at the hope these Cowpie fans have. I, personally, am waiting for the soap opera that is Jerry Jones sticking his nose into Parcells' business and it exploding into the media. Should make the small carnival a big circus.
I'm still trying to figure out why he's still rooting for Texas. Simms bashers are ****ing pathetic sometimes.
I already root for the Texans. I watched every game this year and they're my 2nd favorite team because I was raised in Houston and lived there for over 15 years. I don't hate Simms. Actually I respect his ability. I just can't handle supporting him anymore. I try to be positive but I'm just tired of his "big game" performances and don't want to be forced to support him for 15 more years in the NFL. Thats all.
for the same reason you are. I don't consider myself a Simms basher. Well if your definition of a basher is someone who doesn't blindly support him 100% of the time, than maybe I am one.
