This is why I was a Circuit City fan. They replaced my in-trunk CD changer about 15-20 years ago even though water damage after a car wreck had damaged it and it was plainly visible once they opened the casing. I was sad when they went bye-bye for that reason alone.
Is he even allowed to do that? I have never heard of a customer service/repair rep having the power to give away something for free. I'm just saying....
It sounds too goo to be true. I wouldn't be surprised if it he gone to check if it were some manufacturing flaw which they are quietly recalling only if problems arise.
yeah, I had a similar experience. I had bought my black Macbook a couple years ago. A few days later.... Long story short I got wasted and accidentally spilled water on my laptop and it got fried. I took it back to the apple store and the guy asked me if I spilled water on it and I lied and said no. he gave me a smile, walked to the back and I got a brand new one. I ****ed up and got a new macbook.
Apple's customer service is the best in the industry. Hell, it might even be one of the best of ALL industries. They really "get" it.
Eeh, their highest warranty packages are not very comprehensive. And customer service is mostly dependent on the rep you deal with. Many Apple users (not myself, I had a bad experience) think they have the best customer service, not entirely true. And their warrantys suck.
He obviously went back and talked to a manager (a manager who had sense!). They certainly had no obligation to replace the ipad, but good companies do the right thing with their most important customers. They are much better in the longrun making an established Apple customer happy and making sure he keeps buying their products, rather than risking it over one iPad.
Why do you say their warranties suck? What about them is bad? I had a Time Capsule die and it was covered by my iMac warranty even though I bought the Time Capsule around 6 months after i got the iMac. I had a brand new Time Capsule delivered to me the next day. My wife's MacBook battery was not performing well, after over a year. I took it to the Apple Store and even though their diagnostics showed it to be within specs, they gave me a new one.
Apple's customer service in Dubai/UAE is atrocious. I always say, make sure the customer service is good where YOU will use it. If I have a problem with an Apple product, I have to mail it and get it back, which takes at least 10 days.
actually they did the same thing with my ipod. no hassle. just handed me a brand new ipod in exchange for the one that fell in the pool. this was the apple store at the Grove in L.A.
