I thought the Christian Republicans wanted Armegeddon? The Christian right is probably bummed because they think the Rapture has been put on hold.

Oops. Sorry. It is not for a senate position. It is Hayworth's representative spot still in question. Wrong thread.

    Link?

Last count showed Mitchell (D) with 51%, Hayworth with 46% and a difference of about 5,000 votes with 100% reporting.

I heard it too. Was just on the radio... of course it was Hayworth himself... on Hannity.

Hayworth's nick here in AZ is J.D. Haywire.

EDIT: He's my pick to become the next B-1 Bob Dornan.

Aside from seeing Nancy Pelosi in any position of power, the change in leadership had one big disappointment for me regarding the Democratic Party. Chuck Schumer told both Republican Senate candidates to concede because "it was the right thing to do" -- despite being 1/2 of a percent or so difference in the vote counts of both Senate races.

In other elections I can recall he and a number of other Democrats railed on that they would litigate to the end because the vote was so close. There was no conceding then because it was the right thing to do. So now the hypocracy is too visceral. Other than that, I am now content to see what the Democratic Party can do with power.

yeah that is the same old sh*t, we get from both parties.

BTW with all of the electronic voting machines, I can't see much of the point of a recount.

That's because Dems haven't being corrupted by power to cheat at elections unlike republicans :D

In all seriousness, I applaud the Republicans for stepping down, it showed calss.

Ha! I think Republican hypocrisy was exactly what Schumer was pointing out. That's one of the reasons I'm a Dem... I like politicians who can use irony.

thumbs, the Republicans told the Democrats to concede because "it was the right thing to do," as well, and that was during widescale instances of voter suppression and voter fraud by the GOP. What makes these two races different is that Virginia had a recent history of a statewide recount from just a year ago for the AG race, which was far closer, around 300 votes, and there was a pickup of 24 votes from the recount, with no big complaints about how it was done. None that I remember. Allen wasn't going to find his votes anywhere. Calls for him to concede were the right thing to do, based on recent Virginia history. In the case of Burns in Montana, the margin was enough to preclude a recount, according to state law, and I don't recall hearing of a history of voter fraud there, either. You're comparing apples to strawberries.

As for Pelosi... why not give her a chance to show what she can do in the office, instead of jumping to the Limbaugh conclusions that she's the devil tarted up in a skirt? Hell, she hasn't even taken her speakership yet. Everyone gave Bush the benefit of the doubt practically forever, waiting for that "compassionate conservative" to show up. Guess what... he left it at the Capitol on Congress Avenue in Austin, and buried in Bob Bullock's grave. Why not give Pelosi at least a few months to see what she actually does? She's going to have to work with a heck of a lot of moderate to moderate-conservative Democrats, if she wants to get things done. She'll have to adapt to the facts on the ground. She's no Tom DeLay. How could she be? Congress is too full of sexist pigs!

    Keep D&D Civil.

Voter fraud is a stain on both parties. For example, are you forgetting how ACORN got so many people out of cemeteries to vote? No, voter fraud is pot and kettle time.

As for Pelosi, I would love to be surprised, but my prediction is that she will become a DeLay-like monster with even more power (the devil tarted up in a skirt? Cool description! LOL)
