It's all well and good if he's producing on the field, but he did not. So he can take his letterman jacket to philly.

Loved the dude and his celebration (not that we saw it much last season)....

But for the money, GL in Philly...

    10 sack season coming up.

He's this years version of Mario Williams. We won't miss him and the other team overpaid for him.

We could have very well used Mario last season.

After his slow start (he blamed it on his wrist), he ended up with at least 10 sacks I believe.

Of course, Texans could never afford Mario, but we definitely missed him. It showed in the last month and the playoffs when we had no pass rush at all.

Yea...I'd take Mario but at some point the money exceeds the production. I honestly see Whitney doing better than 6 sacks with his new full time role- wouldnt surprise me to see 10 plus,..and the value is there compared to the money

It's so weird seeing Barwin and Quin getting big money elsewhere. From a Texans fan perspective, Quin was a solid role player and not worth breaking the bank for. Barwin underperformed on a defense where he always gets one-on-one opportunities given Watt's success.

Yet it seems other teams look at them as big parts of a top level defense. And paying them according to that frame of mind.

In a way, I'm kind of happy they left. I feel what this team needs is hitting a home run in FA/draft to take us to the next level. That being safe won't get the job done.

Yeah I agree on Whitney. Problem is now we have no depth and brooks reed didn't look too hot last season. We need to draft another OLB.

That's weird because on his few radio interviews he'll bring up his low sack numbers. And he would counter that by saying he was above average in qb hurries/hits/pressure.

Zierlein brought up that the rest of the league had caught up to how he rushed the QB. I can't remember if it was his technique or an x's and o's issue.

Wade does want 3 edge rushers to rotate. So I expect one in taken in the first 3 rounds

While brooks reed plays the run well(maybe better at ILB?) , OLB play in a 3-4 better has some QB pressure from the outside.

best of luck to him. Wouldn't be surprised if he had a breakout season, but based on last years disappearing act, you can't afford that price tag.

3 sacks last year and at least 2 of them came completely unblocked. Can't say i wont miss him getting stone walled by tackles.

He's making less per year than I thought he would.

From what Pallillo was saying yesterday, it's a pretty team friendly contract that is easy to get out of after the 2nd year without much penalty. So they have 2 years to see if he's the Barwin of 2012 vs Barwin 2011, and if it's the latter they have a good pass rusher locked up at a decent price.

It was also very similar to what we offered him before the season.

Guess he had a lot of people to thank like Blaine Gabbert.... and Shaun Cody.

Gonna miss the guy, I hope @Merci380 can step it up!
