Depends on your definition of sedition. se·di·tion Audio pronunciation of "sedition" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (s-dshn) n. 1. Conduct or language inciting rebellion against the authority of a state. Of course... sedition n : an illegal action inciting resistance to lawful authority and tending to cause the disruption or overthrow of the government Using that definition you would be right. Not a big deal. This discussion got sort of derailed. It was originally about Buck's statement that both extremes are similar, and mcmark's absurd holier than thou comments about how the left can do no wrong.
at what point in time did throwing around racial slurs make you a great person/american? if I call ann coulter an upity (sp?) c*nt that should get back to the kitchen, serve her husband, and pop out kids does that make me a great american? I keep hearing how she also called for clinton to be assassinated. I have missed the quote or anything so if someone could post it that would be cool. anyhow, does calling for the assassination of a president make you a patriot? if I get an answer to those questions I will be very surprised.
ok I found that coulter quote on clinton. its clear she was joking but still that is crazy to say just for the fact you would think the secret service would be knocking at your door pretty fast. I dunno...I guess that's a great american.
And using the first definition he would be right... What do you think "Authority of a State" means? CNN and Cindy Sheehan do not commit sedition because speaking out against the government or even reporting on its shortcomings is protected under our Constitution and neither is advocating an overthrow of our system... at most the argument is whether our system of government should be headed by Bush or someone else... Bush is not the government or the state as the authority for both come from the governed.
I'm not sure what more I can say here, except that I disagree with you. "Authority of the state"... seems pretty clear. Actions taken to undermine or incite rebellion against the government, the authority of the government, the administration, whatever you want to call it. Do you hate me now?
You're confused. I didn't say she was a great American because she uses racial slurs. She's a great American for other reasons, and in spite of the fact that she uses racial slurs. If it was a genuine mistake on your part, no harm done. Otherwise, nice straw man.
Maybe you're joking about all this. I think probably you are. But I so hope you aren't. It would be so great to have someone post here and admit that they agree with all the insane **** Ann Coulter says. Our usual conservatives here run away from her, so if you're willing to defend this stuff please stick around. We all know she does represent a certain class of wingers, but the ones here have been too shy to admit it or defend her positions. (Understandable since they are indefensible, but maybe you have superpowers.) If you're joking about the stuff you've posted, well, kind of boring. If you mean it, please please stick around. And please argue better than your brethren here who run away from not only the Ann Coulters of the world but also any real argument. Be a man. Try to win an actual argument. Do that (even just the trying, not the winning) and you'll be the first serious winger to do it since 9-*******-11. Which is why this forum's boring. Somebody shows up and actually roots for Coulter, they're either kidding or they're actually willing to have the fight the wingers here have been too scared too. Hoping for the second.
well you pretty much pick and choose what you like to hear. it's like saying OJ is a great guy except for that part about beating his wife and eventually murdering her. I'm sorry man but anyone who makes hate filled speech and thinks it has no impact is not a great American. even though you may not want to think like this but let's just subsitute raghead with jiggaboo, wetback, slant eye, and so on. how great is someone like that? anyone who views people with such stereotypical and hate filled eyes is not great. it's people like coulter who would be fine if we went back to the days when we had internment camps for those dirty japs. just replace those monsters with the ragheads and america would be much safer in her eyes.
1) I'm not joking. 2) Calling it "insane" weakens your case. You clearly have deep emotional investment with regards to this person. 3) I don't know that she "represents" anybody. She speaks her mind, much like Michael Moore does, for example, and her positions aren't any less tenable than Moore's stances, or perhaps Democratic Party campaign strategy. 4) Thanks for encouraging me to "be a man". Unfortunately, I'm secure in my masculinity so appealing to any necessity to affirm said masculinity will ultimately prove useless. If I choose to engage in discourse with you or others it will be because I want to, not because I need to confirm my manhood. 5) The reason "wingers" (That's so lovely, it really is. Did you come up with that yourself? It's just so fresh.) don't want to engage in these types of arguments which you seem to relish, is because they are vastly outnumbered on this forum. Any attempt at a real discussion descends into a ridiculous parade of self-reinforcing liberal BS. I believe RM95 referred to it as a "cadre of black slapping liberals"? I could be wrong. This in turn incites the bigtexxx response which is to take what you liberals do, and then do it better, be even more ridiculous than you are. PS: In case you were wondering, nobody can "win" an "argument" in here. People are too invested in their stances to actually consider other viewpoints. Be seeing you.
Except it's my own personal opinion that she is great despite her shortcomings. If you consider use of "raghead" to be equivalent to double homicide, that's your perrogative. I disagree, obviously.
Who are you, Burz? You registered in April and you're referencing RM95 who got banned from this forum over a year ago. So you're either an old poster with a new name or you're freak enough to have read like three years worth of posts in the last two months. I think it's pretty apparent you're not new (and if you are, how embarassing that you would have taken steps to learn 3 year old history). Either way, welcome. If you are willing to defend Ann Coulter's crazy ass McCarthy-ist nonsense, I think that's great. And I really do. I'm not making that up. I think that would be fun. Let's start a new thread tomorrow about it and you can really explain how she's a great American. I gotta crash soon or I'd say let's do it now. But I can't, so tomorrow?
after I posted I figured you would make a comment about the OJ thing I said being too extreme for the racist rhetoric we are talking about. just curious, do you not feel that coulter would advocate internment camps for ragheads in america? am I completely off base? should I call her show and ask? about calling her a great american I don't know let's say its like calling pat robertson a great christian even though he advocates assassination, something that goes against directly against christianity. I dunno...it's whatever you want to believe I guess. one last thing...it is not beyond me to be completely blind to what has been posted, but what great things has coulter actually done besides make outlandish/provocative statements?
I'm really looking forward to slapping you down on various things, so please don't let me down by leaving when you lose. That's why I implored you to be a man and actually argue your positions. Every other self-described conservative here goes sissy and runs away when they lose an argument (which is always) rather than defending their positions. From Jorge to gwayneco to the guys that were here before them, we haven't had one smart conservative to argue with, well, ever, in this forum. Be that guy that is brave enough to defend this stuff -- a tough thing not because there are too many liberals here but because it is damned hard to defend Coulter and because it is impossible to defend GW Bush these day., continue to stand up for what you say you believe in, rather than leaning on this silly "why bother, you're all liberals here" thing and you will, at the least, have my respect. Even better, we could have some real, honest arguments here instead of one side saying "Jayson Blair!" every time they're outclassed. I asked robbie380 that question because I'm fairly sure he was a Bush man and he seems to have turned (like most of the country) and because I don't want to trust my memory on that. Maybe he was anti-Bush all along. I really just don't remember.
