It ain’t over till it’s over. If you’re on this board, are employed, and have disposable income you better be at the game and not sit quietly. I went to games 3 and 4 and will attend game 6 when it comes back to the Bay.
Losing sucks but this season was a wildly successful one. Hell we might end up with the no. 1 pick in a stacked draft.
Game 1: Amen -16, Jalen -5 Game 2: Amen +15, Jalen +19 Game 3: Amen -9, Jalen -14 Game 4: Amen -17, Jalen -11 Overall: Amen -27, Jalen -11 Meanwhile, Curry, who is Amen's primary assignment, is averaging 26 points a game on 51.4% shooting, whereas during this regular season he averaged 24.5 points a game on 44.8% shooting. Who is playing better than who? And who is holding Curry down? As bad as Jalen has been, we would've already been swept if not for him, but I don't see Amen contributing anything. I'll stick to the facts while you hold on to your narrative for dear life.
Haha, exactly, this can't be overstated. This forum would have been a dumpster fire, especially the drug stuff breaking up the team in 80s, various detours/roadblocks (Sonics) etc etc. I think that's what makes it all worth it though, the b2b run still is special all these years later, especially Drexler getting a chip with Hakeem. I do still think Houston finally had GSWs number till Paul's hamstring. Just the normal for Houston sports though, gotta have pain before it finally hits. I'm glad Rockets are back in the playoffs but even if this series, somehow magic happens, this isn't the team that's going to win it, too young/inexperienced etc.. I'd love Houston to be the ones to close their window but am honestly more happy that Houston's window is still just opening/starting, this is probably GSWs last realistic chance because Butler definitely changed a lot of things for them. Maybe one more chance if they run it back with some different pieces, but Father Time is undefeated. With that said, aside from a few top tier teams, Houston just needs to add/trade for a few pieces and they'll be right there.
Anyone who was a fan during the 90's championship years should know there is always a chance. We went from Choke City headlines to Clutch City headlines. It can happen again. I think we win tonight. If we can win game 6 in San Francisco then it is all on the line in a game 7 home game.
No it's not over yet, but I think my mentality watching this game will surely be different. I know this could be the final game for alot of guys on this roster so just want to enjoy some good bball more than anything. The Warriors have had the Rockets (and most of the NBA's) number for the past decade, and get rewarded by the NBA every chance they get so it just is what it is. Just want to see a good game, and leave it all on the table. If we can win tonight I do think it's a different story going into game 6 for sure, and I'll be in a completely different frame of mind.
The problem is that the Underdog was Golden State from the start, I know they got the refs on their side still but the 7th seed had to be the Underdog story in this. The 2nd Seed still winning this is like the Superior team was digging itself out the hole they dug themselves in the first place.
Obviously not exactly the same as the Rockets winning in 95 as a 6th seed and reuniting Hakeem/Drexler, but as much as I don't like saying it, it is at least a little similar (without the UH history). I mean getting Butler near the deadline really changed GSWs being just another 7th seed (typical first round fodder). The whole Western Conference standings are weaker than normal this year, but it's only 4 games from 2nd to 7th seed meaning it's not like the 60 win jazz vs the 47 win rockets in 95, Houston just started getting hot when it mattered/clutch. The GSWs were basically on their way to not even making the playoffs, and after that trade, it's made them a different team. They've went 23-7 since that trade. Also, when the Warriors were without Butler the Rockets really needed game 3, and that's where the lack of experience was clear, Houston was probably thinking the Warriors would hand it to them, and with/without the refs Houston should have just won that one at a minimum. I'm just saying if the Rockets do lose, I wouldn't feel like it was some crazy upset or something, if anything they should learn from this. I'm also not saying series is over, but Houston is going to have to dig deep, actually play like it's their last game and play like they're hungry, because right now they're just going through the motions. I wouldn't even factor the refs in as much as usual, if this were the roster from 2018 (at their 2018 ages), they'd have smoked this version of the Warriors.
I have really, really enjoyed this season. The first one I've enjoyed in many years. I know last year they made a +19 game improvement, but this year has been a lot of fun and I've enjoyed the ride (well, other than a few games - that game in Brooklyn comes to mind ). I will be really sad when the season is over, so hopefully it continues past tonight. If they play Rockets basketball and we have a Jalen Green sighting, I suspect the season will continue. That being said, if Jalen has another 9 point showing out there, I do think this roster will look quite different in the fall. I read a few things where Stone has said this and that about sticking with this core, but I do think 4 out of 5 bad games for JG in the playoffs will lead to some reshuffling. I don't think a summer of maturing will change this team significantly.
That team is basically just Butler and Curry with Draymond playing a better season after a few average ones, it is still not much of a juggernaut compared to when they had KD, Steph, Klay, Dray, Iggy, Livingston in top shape and much younger.
Definitely agree, I don't think the Warriors are going to win it all or something. I just mean that the seeding is a lot closer than typical seasons in the western conference. Someone did the math here: Like typically it's probably closer to ~10+ wins and depending at the window you're looking at can probably be closer to ~15+ wins between 2nd and 7th seed. Like a 7th seed advancing has happened 6 times (regardless of conference), because normally it's not supposed to be this close in the standings. So if Houston does lose here, I would count it as a major outlier. Houston has the youth and is gaining experience, and regardless how this rest of the series goes, I'm definitely looking forward to the future from here vs where the team was at after the Harden era ended.
Fortunate for us they look like a good to very good team but not great team. Still move the ball and cut to the basket but 2x slower and not as crisp.... 3 Point shooting which was their calling card deteriorated without a healthy Klay Thompson. Defense has been good at times but perimeter Defense lacking. I would be shocked if the Wolves cannot get past the Rockets or the Warriors next round. So the default WCF matchup would be Thunder vs Timberwolves (if both do not crap the bed or injuries)
Yeah, I think you're right, especially on the thunder vs twolves. Houston is definitely moving in the right direction. I hope Friday they play tough like they did tonight, because they could just as easily be up/done with series, and if the rockets do win Friday, I like the Rockets chances, and more experience through another series would be nice for the team. I mean without the Warriors lucking into an aging Butler, they probably wouldn't even be here and houston would already be on to the next round.
The Rockets have had three chances to steal one at Golden State - two failed attempts so far. Third time’s the charm.
