Well, I don't know about everyone else, but I'm doing my part this year. I'm making the 8-hour trek from Lubbock to see the family in Houston this year and, yes, I just paid for my lower-prom tickets to see the Sonics on Dec. 29. Wish I could go to more games- it was great being in Houston- the Summit (I.E. Compaq Center) was like a second home after going to so many Rockets games. So it's gonna be great to visit the new arena.

(Only thing that sucks about the past is that I only got to go to 2 playoff games, and we got knocked out both times- game 3 in 1990 against the Lakers when James Worthy single-handedly killed us in the 4th, and game 6 in 1997 against the Jazz- I don't even want to think about it!!!)

When you go with friends, or with your kids, I don't think going to the Rockets games is only about going to see a basketball game. It's the whole experience. And just as there are little quirks that I have a beef with (paying for parking, somewhat high concession prices), the fun far outweighs the negatives.

I don't know, maybe I'm in the minority. I sat through much worse seasons than this, so I guess I have perspective. And I guess I'm just bad about hyper-criticism and cynicism. I'm positive to a fault. Guess it's a good fault to have.

Go Rockets! Best franchise in the N.B.A.

I pay to see results. The Rockets have an excellent home record. They have delivered their ROI in home games. Some teams win with offense, some with defense. To me, it's about scoreboard. And if the team's not successful, I'll still go because I'm a firm believer in supporting the team through good and bad.

    Sue me.

Thank you, couldn't have said it any better myself!

This thread starter is the definition of what's wrong with a lot of sports fans.

I think that being a true sports fan demands that you support your team during the highs AND the lows. But that doesn’t mean that you have to blindly applaud the team’s successes and ignore their failures.

Regarding the lack of attendance at the Toyota Center, it doesn’t really surprise me. A few years ago I read a stat that said that the Rockets had one of the highest ticket prices in the league. Is that still true? If so, I wouldn’t blame the fans for not attending. That is the ownership’s fault for trying to make money at the expense of the true Rox fans. I think we would all regularly attend games if it was in the budget.

    It isn't already? ;)

Jeff, I don't agree with the doctor analysis for two reasons:

    1) We don't sit around and study techniques, discuss medical issues on a daily basis and watch them as a spectator sport. If we did, as much as most of us do the Rox, you might find that you WOULD know more than most general pratitioners! I'm not joking either...

    2) NBA basketball is a far more serious endeavor than going to the doctor for the flu or a damn hangnail.... ;)

    Tim,

Im in the same boat as R2K, Jeff and a few others.

Its funny that the ones who want to boycott the team, will be the first ones back on the bandwagon if this team, sans changes, keeps up the pace and makes the playoffs.

Bottom line is patience. Some people have it and some people don't.

    ;)

I would just like to say that I'm really disappointed in some of your attitudes. I completely understand the frustration with the team. I can relate to being angry and disappointed with the players, coaches, staff, etc.

But, this is freakin' entertainment. There are people who would give their left nut to be able to afford to go to see a bunch of guys in shorts run up and down the floor whatever the outcome. There are kids out there who are lucky if they can just play hoops at the park, nevermind go to a professional basketball game. We can not only afford to go but to sit around on our asses talking about it on the internet afterward. Half of the world's population has never used a telephone and we're user our computers to complain about how bad it is for us because Steve Francis has a poor assist to turnover ratio.

Whatever happened to the love of the game, the joy of fan participation, the support through thick AND thin? I'm not suggesting we turn a blind eye to things we don't like, but, damn, take a step back and get a grip on your priorities here.

We're acting like we're pissed because the Ferrari we got for Christmas is Forest Green and we really wanted Fire Engine Red. Poor us.

I'm a Hoosier, I love basketball. Having a team in the city in which I reside is great. I embraced the Rockets when I moved here in 92 and celebrated their championships in 94 & 95. Support for the team has continued despite the frustrations I feel for the decisions that have been made with the organization. I admit I am one who complains when things aren't going right, BUT I'm still a supporter. We support our children (or any family member or friend) despite the bad choices they make, and we try to help them realize what they did wrong so in the future they make better choices. The Rockets organization has made some pretty crappy choices and there seems to be no attempt to correct them. As a supporter, along with other supporters here, we aren't necessarily giving up or throwing in the towel, but rather expressing our concerns for OUR team.

    egn,

man, you have been annoying to a lot of posters in the past with your generally trollish behavior, but your asinine attempts to call out the Rockets marketing VP really illustrate a new low of douchebaggery for you.

Isn't the main reason why you [ don't go to Rockets games is because you moved to Dallas which is what you claimed in another thread? (If only we had search, I'd dig it up; in fact I still might) Either you were lying then (in a pathetic attempt to explain why you troll this board only after losses), or you were telling the truth, in which case you are hassling Tim and essentially lying now; you wouldn't go to Rockets games if tickets were 5 bucks.

This is a Rockets fan site. Since you are not a Rockets fan, I suggest you leave us alone for the time being.

Don't most of these contracts with Sports teams have a out clause with how many fans are in the seats? So if the fasn boycott, Les can move.

I bet your momma breast fed you till you were what SamFisher? 9??? 10 years old???

Any attempt you make to take personal shots at me is without merit. You are a childish cry baby. The fact of your inability to provide a valid point that leads you to personal attacks is just sad. If there is anyone who is behaving as a troll, it is you. Your subservient posts are weak and moronic. I am done wasting time replying to your nonsense. Go back to sucking on your mom's nipple. Suck, suck.

So, egn, what time do you leave to make the 7:30 tip off? I magine if you leave the Metroplex around 3:00 or so you would avoid early rush hour? I imagine arriving home at close to 4 AM must be a serious kicker though. I hope you have a good CD collection for your car in any event.....

Don't push it, egn. I'm sure you don't like feeling busted, but this is absolutely uncalled for. Consider yourself warned.
