I've got the Samsung and my best friends with LCD's and Plasmas always rave about the picture on my DLP, and my crib is where we usually always watch the games on HD. Nothing but love for the Samsung.
i know...i have two lcd's. i dont want another one. i wanna go bigger. dlp is the cheapest way to go bigger
http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-12760_7-9672556-5.html?tag=blog wait for the new led based DLPs (no color wheel). higher contrast, longer bulb life.
I thought someone here said that plasmas burn out relatively quickly and would ultimately be phased out. I have a Hitachi rear projection and it's outstanding. It looks good from more angles than any other when we bought it.
when is this coming out??? the article doesnt say anything about the tv with the 100,000:1 contrast ratio
i hope you have the best tv of all clutchfans! you can bust out not only having a 1080p 60+inch tv, you can drop that 100,000 to 1 contrast ratio to the haters. Tmac those ShawnBradleys!
Suit yourself if you want to spend $3000 on a TV that will burn out quickly. 65" Mistubishi DLP 1080p, media card reader on front, PC slots, 3 HDMIs at CONNvict's for $2300, no interest for 24 months, warranty covers the 2 lamps that will go out in 4 years... go see their demo in 1080p. That's all I am going to say.
plasmas take about 20,000 hrs to fade out. some are really nice though like the pioneer elites and the panasonics. u still have to replace bulbs on DLPs or any of the RPTVs. what do u have connected to the tv? hd dvd? xbox? ps3? directv? the only things 1080p are the game consoles, nextgen dvds.
thanks again tinman. i cancelled that order last night, but where does it say the tv is 100,000 to 1 is it the HL-S6176S tv? on here it says 10,000:1 but man if theres a 100,000:1 ratio...i'll save up and spend up to 4 grand. i dont care.
that was a pic i took at the DLP booth. there was no brand for it yet.. just says "DLP" on it. but yes, it looked awesome. the only thing better was the protype OLED 27in by Sony. that had a 1million to 1 contrast ratio. That was incredible. you had to just see it. http://blog.scifi.com/tech/archives/2007/01/12/sony_teases_us.html
tinman u saved into gettin a better tv......i gotta call u over for a rocket playoff game...beer/food. everything on me
oh ok...i got ya. but would u still recomend the samsung HL-S6176S tv coming in april, if it has the same picture quality as the one that is out right now? 3 hdmi inputs. thats already a plus. the one i was gonna by only had 2
