By the way, I'll be seeing Dave Matthews and Co. enter the stage in about 5 hours and 25 minutes. I've been whistling songs all day long around the office. Now I'm home, doing a little Swirve work, watching Live at Folsom Field, drinking a Miller, and eagerly awaiting my time to leave for AAC. Vengeance, I think Drewdog is going to be with me tomorrow night. We'll be having beers in the parking lot at Selma. E-mail me at blake@corp.swirve.com so we can exchange numbers if you wanna meet up. I'll be filling my soul up very soon!!!
Ugh. Not that great a show. Don't Drink the Water Crush Drive In Drive Out If I Had It All When The World Ends The Last Stop Where Are You Going So Much To Say One Sweet World Grey Street Pay For What You Get Ants Marching Minarets Grace Is Gone Too Much The Maker Watchtower
Wow, looks like Houston came out ahead in the setlist department. But I'll bet Drive In Drive Out and Ants Marching were pretty sweet! The encore looks pretty low key....unlike Houston.
Well, their Watchtower rocks, so that really wasn't a complaint of mine. Ants Marching was though. They completely took out the beginning and launched directly into the lyrics. The beauty of that song, IMO, is the intro getting you pumped up for it. Highly disappointing. The great thing is...I'm seeing them tonight!
Watchtower makes up for any shortcomings in the pre-encore setlist, IMO. I was really hoping that they would play that in Houston. I'll echo madmax's statement...if there is any way that anyone can get this on CD, please contact me.
Just got back from San Antonio. Had so much energy, I decided not to spend the night in SA, but drive back to Houston. The Dallas show was . . . eh. It was great, don't get me wrong. DMB is like pizza -- when it's bad, it's still GOOD. getting to see Minarets and the Maker was enough to make any show awesome, but then also getting PFWYG (hadn't seen before . . . and he added the "Norwegian Wood" part!) was great. The other things that rocked about this show -- Stefan's intro to Grace is Gone on the Steel Guitar -- I don't know if that's been done before, and then Watchtower, which was just flat out EPIC. Oh, and Stefan had SOO MUCH ENERGY this show. It was awesome! That spilled over into the San Antonio show as well, which was great. Stefan is usually almost forgotten, but he really kicked ass here in Texas. The San Antonio show was OFF THE F-ING CHAIN!!! Bartender was SPECTACULAR. I think that may well be the best Bartender I've ever heard. #41 was good, Granny, Jimi Thing, the SMTS->ASTB->PNP->Rapunzel thing was AWESOME because I was afraid they might end it at SMTS, but then when I heard Carter start up with ASTB I was just going insane. And the highlight, unquestionably -- Help Myself. I never thought I'd ever see that song live. It was worth the price of admission (and gas) JUST to see that! The only downers: Sleep to Dream Her is just not a good song, IMO, and I was disappointed it took a spot a better song could've fit in. I was also disappointed with the Two Step. There was no jamming at all in that song -- they played it REALLY short (comparitively of course . . . I think it was probably still around 8 to 10 minutes). On the whole, GREAT GREAT GREAT show. I don't know if it beats Houston, but I am certain it beats Dallas.
oh vj -- I'll be getting these shows soon, and I'll set up a B+P with you (and anyone else) in a bit. I'll post it on the BBS.
I was praying he would play that in Houston, it's my favorite DMB song. That and Drive In Drive Out which he played in dallas (as you know). Sounds like dallas got the shaft (if that's even possible) of the Texas Triangle. You must have been pretty excited when you heard the opening to Two Step. Too bad it didn't match the Houston show. Funny, the studio version of that song isn't even one of my favorites but the Houston version....man, I'm still speechless. BTW, what is a B+P?
B + P = Blanks plus postage. As in he'll get the shows, and trade them to you for Blank cd's or tapes, plus the cost of postage. Some bands out there, like DMB and counting crows, have no problems with the fans trading bootlegs, but they don't think it's right for a person to make money off of those recorded shows. So, giving someone blank cd's or tapes to record the shows for you, plus postage to mail them back to you, is common bootleg trading procedure. I guess I have a little experience in the field.
Alright, that sounds great. Let me know...I would be interested in all 3 because of the variety of songs played.
Me four, ahahahahah. (funny commercial). Yeah, the more I think about Selma, the better it is. As bad ass as Two Step was at The Woodlands, I liked the switch better at Selma. And Bartender was simply amazing. Chills the entire time.
Weird. I keep calling Two Step "Hoe Down"! I think it's because I'm thinking of Copeland's Hoe Down. Better edit my last post...
What's funny is that I knew exactly what you were talking about and it never crossed my mind to question you on it!
