I agree, China sucks. They have shown what growth dependent upon government spending can accomplish, short term growth based in meaningless building and currency manipulation followed by stagnation as no one thinks building empty buildings has any real value. They should import refugees to live in their empty cities and provide a boost to their workforce.

FT and the breibart reporter fed you some bad data.

The Chinese economy grew <3% in 2022 and is expected to grow ~5% in 2023.

bluntly put, you have no idea what you're parroting about.

USA. Japan and China have been vivid eg of what government spending can accomplish
    • lifted the US economy out of the great depression, and once again from the W-induced economic depression
      • some 90 years after FDR's New Deal programs, USA is still the largest economy in the world
    • rebuilt a war-torn Japanese economy into the 2nd largest economy behind the USA.
      • some 70 year later, Japan is still in the top 10
    • tranformed China's 3rd-world agrarian economy, w food shortages, into an industrial power house, toward becoming the 2nd largest economy in the world. in the process,
      • lifting hundreds of citizens out of poverty
        • some 40+ years later, China remains the second largest economy in the world.
        • when China started this big Gov spending, its economy was smaller than Mexico's

GDP growth is different than contribution to global growth after inflation. US economy is consumer driven which contributes alot to a huge array of global supply chains and developing countries.

USA is holding the entire globe up right now with its economy. It's really fascinating

China is collapsing and I'm not sure why you're standing up for them

u know that China is not collapsing. it's economy is still growing, just rate of increase has been declining..

i think china has entered into a phase of slower/no growth, but not stagnating like the Japanese economy since the mi-90s. the difference being that while China allows foreign investment in its economy, while Japan doesn;t.
protectionism is ok as long as every decision made has been the right one, and global deveopments do not stand in the way

Just saw tamales for $30/dozen on FB. Half the commenters saying she was crazy, half saying that's the average price now. I respectfully declined.
