Communicate with your wife!!! And, if she is going to stay home to watch the baby, make sure she has plenty of breaks/free-time. I have a four month old, and I cannot believe how much work it is to take care of one...not to mention, taking care of my wife. Definitely get your sleep now...you cannot will a baby to sleep...they are way too persistent! Take TOO MANY pictures (and post them on the internet for relatives)! Buy your kid a mini-Rockets uniform...it's never too soon to start him on the right foot! And (hate is never good, especially for a newborn), tell your son that the Utah Jazz are bad men and deserve to be in NBA jail!!! Congrats!!! You've taken the first steps of the most thrilling time of your life! I should know...I have four whole months of experience!!!
