Really? You don't think The Italian association of atheists and agnostics mission isn't to ultimately do this?

    Please.

    Why do you care?

If that is their goal, seems like a pretty good place to start...

I did not notice that, actually. But it really changes nothing. Even if the researcher is totally correct this neither a) proves it a fake or b) makes the religion (loosely) associated to it fake, either.

I don't know anything about who funded it other than they are "an Italian association of atheists and agnostics". Further, their funded research is not disproving anything, it was an attempt to reproduce the same results - something that nobody has been able to do before. Learning how to do something or about something new is always beneficial in my mind so I certainly don't mind that this research is being funded. I also don't mind the research that found evidence of 30,000 year old woven (and dyed) fibers or the research that discovered and assempled the new skeleton of a forest-living biped that predates Lucy. Learning is fun.

Even the Vatican does not think that the SoT came from Christ so why is it a big deal that some Italians wanted to see if they could solve the mystery of production?

Care? I was making a statement that people who throw money at disproving religion are just as crazy as people who throw money at Benny Hinn.

    Do you disagree?

Let's evaluate some other sage advice from fatty on the subject of science and religion:

Truly, this is a man of incredible intellect.

    I do disagree.

Scientific research, of any kind, is better than "people who throw money at Benny Hinn."

Jeez. From the first line of the artcle:

ROME (Reuters) – An Italian scientist says he has reproduced the Shroud of Turin, a feat that he says proves definitively that the linen some Christians revere as Jesus Christ's burial cloth is a medieval fake.

Oh please tell us what was incorrect with that statement.

The dumbass liberal patrol is all over this again, as usual.

People who are highly skeptical of science...probably aren't highly educated.

    Jus' sayin'.

lol. No thanks. Done and done and done, many times, in many threads.

I would direct everyone to take a look at that entire thread I briefly cited above as it is a hilarious microcosm of the "fatty mystique". Fatty jumps in out of nowhere on page 9 with all the answers (lol) and then proceeds to get shredded. At each step, though, he gets more arrogant, each argument a bit more contrived, and his ignorance just magnifies at an almost comical rate. Good reading.

I'm not highly skeptical. Nor do I take science as 100% irrefutable proof, as people in this thread do.

These people reproducing the shroud doesn't "disprove" anything. The fact that they are saying it "100% does prove it was a fake" is what I had a problem with. It was hyperbole.

Why in the hell are people disagreeing with me about this?

First, let me apologize for perpetuating today's episode of "THE FATTY SHOW INTERRUPTS UR THREADZ CUZ HE CAN!" but I figure the damage is already done. That said. hat scientists need to study is why fatty's insecurities are secured by continually humiliating himself by acting like a buffoon on the internet.

Fatty please prove to us how, by your calculus:

    x > y

With x being "intentionally acting like a complete idiot, and deliberately making yourself as reprehensible as possible to on- and off-line friends and acquantances for the sake of garnering attention" and y = "your internet persona languishing alone and unloved on the cold bowels of the interwebs, a mere observer rather than the sole subject of attentionjism of any type."
