Mike had "it" and knew who also had "it". Note, it was guys like Paxon & Kerr he passed to when they needed that last shot, not mister Quitten. Not many players have "it" and know who else does too, got to hand it to Mike. Kobe has "it", but I don't know if he knows who else has "it". Magic was probably the best at knowing who else has "it". Big smooth was one of those guys, along with Scott, Worthy and Kareem when they were in the right floor spots. Magic had more than a little "it" himself, but I don't remember him ever relying on his outside shot when he needed an "it" bucket-al la Bird. But like Mike, give Magic credit for identifying the best play with an "it" player on the floor for his team. [This message has been edited by sir scarvajal (edited June 15, 2000).]
What I love about Perkins is the way he doesn't even flinch after driving that 3-point nail through your heart. Totally impassive, like he expected it all along and it was nothing. Cold-blooded killa. Whether he can be taught to understand the 2-minute rule is another matter. But I'd say his 2-on-1 drive-and-dish to Croshere was pretty wily. Looked to me like Shaq was the low-IQ participant in that transaction.
