That is true. Sadly and unfortunately he hurt his own value by playing like a scrub and let personal feelings take over

I was surprised by the fact that we made any moves because it seems Daryl Morey was the most active GM with the most assets and nobody wants to trade with him

This, and this reminds me of someone's post where he described Morey's propensity for shopping in the on sale aisles and also in thrift stores. I have not criticized Morey at all until now but I am really starting to think that this guy is turning out to be close to the only GM that I truly hate- former Bulls' GM Jerry "Crumbs" Krause.

This was what I was advocating for during the last several days. If there was nothing to significantly improve the team, especially if a solid or even just a serviceable center were not available, then there was no need to make any moves.

The jury is still out on the Brooks deal. I think it was done in panic too, even if I really wanted no part of Brooks as far as the Rockets are concerned.

What do you gain by holding onto Brooks/Battier till the seasons over....?

Half the fair weather fans on this board were begging for Battier to be traded early in the season. Claiming he was to old/slow and a blackhole in the offense.

Now everyone is b****ing that we traded him.

I'm not in love with either of the trades, but I'm far from hating them. Morey did a fine enough job. He was able to turn a couple of pending free agents, one of whom was unfortunately starting to turn into a malcontent, and was able to snag some young and intriguing prospects for them. All things considered, that's not a bad little haul at all.

It'll be easy to see the divide with fans, here. Those who were in favor of rebuilding are happy, and those who supported trying like hell to limp into the playoffs this year are pissed.

At the very least, I'm 100% interested in the season again. Even if that only lasts until Saturday, at least its something for this fan who was growing increasingly apathetic. I want to see how this now younger team develops. I want to see how Rick manages the roster from here on out. Surely he has to see the writing on the wall and know that the notion of being competitive this year is out the window, right? I want to see if Thabeet has anything at all. I want to see if Terrence can actually play.

Most of all, I'm incredibly curious, and can't wait to see just where this franchise is going, because right now, I really have no clue. All I know is its better than where the team was going just a week ago: Nowhere. It's kind of fun. There's a little hope for the future, again.

I always loved Brooks but these were pretty solid moves. Dragic is much better than what people here give him credit for and will show it once he's totally over his injury. Battier deserved better but he'll be a free agent and wouldn't have any place here with this bunch of youngsters after this year anyway. I hated Battier's offense, but he surely wasn't the worst guy to have on our team when we were contending. Thabeet can be a very good defensive player, and those late picks might be good sweeteners or something down the line for one of those teams that doesn't have any picks. I don't think that Morey's grade is complete yet however. If he starts flipping guys like Patterson and Williams without ever really seeing what they have out on the floor, I'm sure many will be highly upset. Till then let's enjoy seeing Williams, Patterson and company grow.

I think people are disappointed because a top player didn't "shake loose" the way Morey hoped one would, and the team remains lacking after the trade deadline. I think Morey's probably pretty disappointed in this, too.

Hey wait a minute. This is exaggerated way out of proportion. I did not see many Fragic's games though, but this guy hustles and can attack the basket.

I just can't see the same thing as you do when Brooks repeatedly had 1/9 or 2/10 shooting night.

Very happy with the trades especially with expiring contacts. Some of you guys are just hogging the good memories too long. WAKE UP. If Yao is willing to sign for a vet minimum I can see a better future for the team.

In what regard? That makes absolutely no sense. What a lot of you don't want to face is that we are rebuilding. Shane and Aaron weren't coming back. So we took a flyer on a couple young players who may or may not be worth keeping around and added a few draft picks to help us in the rebuilding process.

How in the hell would we be better off to just watch Battier and Brooks go elsewhere in free agency and not have those draft picks?

Incidentally, the Nets accumulation of picks was a large factor in them being able to acquire Deron Williams the other day.

Are we going to be as good for the rest of the season? No. But who cares? We weren't going to make the playoffs anyway. If you come to terms with that, you'll see these deals help us going forward. And since going forward is all I have to look forward to with this team, I'm happy about that.

Are you serious? Are starting small forward is going to be Chase Budinger now. Even if his offensive game were as good as it was against Detroit every game, he is so bad defensively that we'll be terrible. This definitely signals the beginning of rebuilding mode.

And while I agree we could move Martin (and Scola for that matter), if the right deal isn't out there, what do you do? We heard repeatedly through multiple media outlets that Morey made EVERYONE available. But he isn't going to give them away. If he can't get the right deal for Martin, there is no reason to rush to trade him. He isn't about to be a free agent like Brooks and Battier. It was imperative those guys be moved right then or we would get nothing for them. We still have time to get something of value for Martin or Scola if they're to be moved as well.

Except Brooks was a late first rounder himself. Morey drafted him. And now Morey has two more opportunities to strike late round gold. C'mon, man. Be reasonable. We have no idea what those picks will end up being or if we'll even end up keeping them or turning around and using them as a sweetener for another trade.

It was a very good day. I'm more optismtic about the Rockets' future today than I was yesterday. Not necessarily because of the players we acquired, but because the Rockets management has realized that rebuilding is the direction to go for this team.

It's not a good day, I see it as an complete end to an era. We haven't rebuilt this team since we drafted Steve Francis. The thing that worries me is there is no one on this roster that brings the excitement and hope as Steve and Cuttino did.

This era of Rockets basketball completely mind f****** us all. From drafting what was supposed to be the best center for years to come, then pairing him with the best scorer in the league. Then to bring Ron Artest, one of the leagues best defenders, we had a big 3. Yeah we were bound to win a championship right?

Then comes the fall of McGrady and Yao, slowly before our eye's. Most of us Im sure were like 'nah this can't be how it ends'. Then Yao, is out for the whole year after taking the what would be champions to 7 games. There was still hope when we traded for Kevin Martin last year. We would make a strong push for Chris Bosh. Yeah rebuild on the fly. Yet false hopes again.

And now February 24, 2011 RIP to an era of false hopes and what should have been. Never in my young adult mind ever think that the Rockets would never reach a western conference finals with Yao and Tracy. It's done now. It's sad to think I will probably be 27 or 28 by the time the Rockets are relevant again. What could've been. I've been sad all day because I know it's the end of an era. But I will never give up on my Rockets.

Gary Kubiak better get his sh** together. That the only legit team Houston has right now lol.

Exactly. BTW, anyone who believed Les was gonna pay luxury tax for this team hasn't seen his luxury tax paying history since he has owned the team.
