    and it feels good :)

    but seriously can't you die by breathing in air that is -50 degrees? i forget what temp it is exactly but that can't be good for you.

    I used to live in northern Alberta. I think the coldest it ever got was -50° C, which is about -54° Fahrenheit.

    I don't really remember that, but it did hit -40° a lot. We'd be waiting for the school bus in long underwear and our winter jackets and ski hats - but my brother wanted to be cool so he'd just wear jeans and no hat. I guess his hair didn't get messed up, but that must have been pretty cold.

    I remember that when I went to do the chores, I'd wear two snowmobile suits, my moon boots, and I'd actually pull my toque (ski hat) over my face and try to see through the fabric instead of having skin exposed.

    It was cool to spit on something and watch it freeze. If you were consistent, you could have a sign covered with frozen loogies by the end of the winter.

    robbie--Nope, people are outside all the time even when it gets cold. You might freeze to death, but you can still breathe at these temps.

    bottlerocket--Nope

    Gutter Snipe--Last night, just for fun, I took a glass of hot water outside and tossed it up into the air. It froze and turned into steam before it hit the ground.

    rrj_gamz--Yup, very dry. I can tell you from personal experience that 35 in Houston feels about like 0 here. It gets dark about 5:00 in the afternoon now.

    It was so cold last night that my autostart froze, so I had to go start my truck the old fashioned way. When I went out there the seat (cloth) was frozen as hard as a rock, and the gear shift wouldn't even budge. Still started on the first try though. That's why I have a Ford :cool:

    It would have to be -70 for high school to be cancelled in Labrador. One morning, it was -68 and they kept it open. No joke. The coldest I have ever seen it was -81.

    I have never seen school here get cancelled because of cold. In fact, the only thing school has been cancelled for in the 5 years that I've lived here is rain, of all things (warm rain hits frozen ground and creates a less than desirable driving surface).

    You guys living in sub -50 degrees should be sent to Mars or something to populate it or something. I still refuse to believe people can go out in those temp in jeans or something. In Houston right now its about 50 degrees (positive and farenhite) and I hated to go outside and have the heater on inside.

    I checked the weather for Fairbanks and it appears there is a heat wave on the way with a high of 2 degrees F and a low of -1 degree F on Sunday.

    You might have to turn on A/C for that kind of warmth.

    People get the postal codes for Alaska and Arkansas mixed up all the time--kind of a joke.

    AK = Alaska
    AR = Arkansas (I think).
