It was a good thing, indirectly. I'm sure Yao didn't do that intentionally... there's no way anyone can think that quickly (we're talking a couple of seconds) all while playing full speed in the last possession.

But, it was a good thing. I'm 99.9 percent sure that ball was going in... all the spin was within the rim, and it was bouncing hard enough to hit the back iron and come out. That thing was going in, no doubt about it... and Yao touching it accidentally gave us a chance to win.

There's something call instinct. Its something one does without thinking or understanding.

That ball was going in.. I wish he would have dunked it and we could had maybe .04 sec on the clock. But it was a no factor in the game that he goalteaded it.

He knew it was going in, he tried for a miracle call, he had nothing to lose...

Some of you would drink Yao dirty bath water.
PLease it was a dumb thing to do, no excuses for him. He's a rookie though he will make those mistakes. If Yao dunks on the opposition goal by mistake I can see another thread similar to this one, about what a smart thing it was to do because, the game wasn't close enough, or the Rockets were blowing the other team out to much; so Ming showed the nice guy he was by giving them 2pts.

Rudy and Ming support your argument. In the CHinese press I read, Rudy and Ming both thinks the ball is going in anyway. And Rudy thinks Yao reacted with instinct, since he played so many international ball.

Actually, if Mooch made those 2 free throws down the stretch, that shot would of meant nothing. And also, Mooch or whoever played point couldn't stop Dooling. He was a nobody before this game.

It wasn't really dumb, just instincts or habits that he has to adjust. Dunking on the team's goal.....ok that's dumb. I don't think anyone is going to defend Yao for doing that.

I thought he did it on purpose seeing the clock and seeing that the ball was taking its time to drop in the hole.
