it is what it is upsets me the most a month ago one of the guys who works under me said it to explain to me why something was messed up. i told him if he doesnt straighten it out he wouldnt have to bother coming into work after today...he looks at me and goes why because of this one little screw up? and look back at him and just tell him..it is what it is he fixed it up in about an hour and wrote me an apology for talking back out of line
Well that sucks. My wife and I are both big believers in this saying, and I don't think either of us have really seen a bunch of people using it. For us, it is just acceptance of an unfortunate situation that can't easily be changed...........or the effort to change it simply isn't worth it. Instead of getting bent out of shape over it, we accept it and move on. Traffic in Houston sucks, but it is what it is.
I partly stopped listening to Mike and Mike in the Morning because Greeny will drop, "It is what it is" about twenty times a show.
Ooohh!! I hate this too haha! Usually it starts with "hey, what are you doing [tonight] on ______?" or "hey, are you doing anything [busy]?"
"You are what you are." -Bill Parcells He may have started the "It is what it is" saying as well. I sure heard him say it in the Dallas pressers for about 3 years or so. and "just wanted to throw that out there" "you coming with?" or "come with" or people using stupid "text talk" like "bff" "idk" "omg"
It sounds better when you put it that way. But I've been hearing it used as more of a glib response. Esp with sportscasters. "what do you think of the texan running game?" "it is what it is." Well what is it? You are paid to give your opinion, not weasel out of it.
I have a hard time listening to them on radio. They are such unbelievable schills. I thought they were pretty damn good announcing games though. The schtick worked a lot better than I expected in that format.
I've never actually heard someone say that in person, but if I did I'd have to punch them in the face.
I had friends who used "LOL" in a conversation like nobody else had heard it before. However I usually just ignore people when they start to talk all "sup, nm, u?, brb, lol, ttyl, tc" online.
