No that would be Nix and Silas as coach. Like it or not, Jock played a great game until that last bonehead and I mean bonehead play. Everyone else defends the likes of Amen Thompson who has sucked, but nobody defends poor (not literally) Jock.
…and that was how Udoka drew it up - give it to Landale if you get doubled and he will find the open….oh.
Jalen made the right play IMO. You don't force a terrible shot up over 2 defenders. Bad call on coach for having him in the game in the first place. It's also a reminder to never assume players know the score.
…after Stone lost the other big who he traded players to make room for who ended up NOT signing with us.
Holiday also had more than enough time to make one last pass to a now wide open FVV who would have most certainly sank it....
He end up getting Brooks with that money so not sure why you are still crying about that. I can't believe you even try to spin this who among the players traded are actually getting PT? Oh yeah Stone such an idiot he traded the big and other players.... Really? How many mins have Christopher, Garuba and Tyty gotten?
Then he should not have drawn it up for Jalen. I for one am not that ecstatic about Ime sometimes benching the guy, and then draw extra plays for him.# Stay consistent. Give the guy the first 3 quarters and draw plays for people that are closers. Wrong time to be supportive.....do it when the team is on a winning streak or play a weak opponent.
That's not how development works, Jalen earned that play and the last shot.... Green will never become a closer if Ime does not trust him or put him in positions to close games out, will Ime trust him again after he essentially passed up the rock when he was suppose to shoot it? that I don't know...
Lol now you are telling me about development..... He should not have benched him earlier then, I am not content about his irregularities......... Fact is Ime is not a saint, he is a coach, so he will make mistakes too.... I suspect Rafael and Tilman told Udoka to use Green more..........haha. You do not babysit players when you try to make the Playoffs, it is just the wrong timing. Good thing the schedule gets better and ligther because this conundrum is costing the team wins......and guys like Morant, Fox, Embiid are either injured or have suspensions.
Playoffs? You think Ime and co are trying to make the playoffs? There are more important things than the playoffs for this team right now, like establishing one of our young core guys as a star and the corner stone of the team. So far its looking like that's Sengun by a long shot but Green has always had insane potential to be a closer and a super star. The Rockets are just barely getting out of the rebuild and losing is probably more beneficial to the young guys in the long run, this is how they learn. If somehow The Rockets make the playoffs, its not because that was the goal. It was because the goal of getting this team to learn and establishing roles paid off.
Green had the hot hand and already scored a clutch 3 like 30 seconds before. It was a no brainer it was drawn for him with Sengun fouled out
The Play should be drawn for sure but for the open man in this circumstance. You can call it the Jalen play due to him bringing the ball up...... It does not make sense to throw a forced shot up.......unless you are prepared to lose. Okay, fine lose then.
You are too enamored with the Jalen drawup.....a play is live action it should end up in the hands of the open man.....and it changes in the heat of the moment. IMHO the situation calls for a good play and yeah he can draw it up for Green in other games.... Delivered to Landale - Case closed. No matter for whom you draw that up......just let go of this Jalen love dang. The conversation was about the Play only and not some other conversation you want to have..... Basically the game was lost and Udoka has his faults in it.
He was already going to get Brooks - FVV and Brooks were our top 2 targets. My point is not about losing some young prospects we didn’t have playing time for - it’s selling low on said guys(not maximizing on the investment) to quickly make room for the player you didn’t actually acquire, then overpaying another guy who in hindsight wasn’t worth the money. I’m just continuing to make the argument that Stone has definitely got the big things right about risk/reward but he has not maximized our team assets and there is now a long string of “this probably could have been handled better” incidents. We can weather those as a rebuilding teams because bad roster management allows you to continue to be bad but those are moves that would really hurt us if we were a real contender and they have to be cleaned up of Stone is to continue as GM of this org past the rebuilding phase. To repeat a common phrase “what got you here won’t get you there”.
We can have both. Playoff experience is good too. We should make a trade for a vet sg like Brogdon who has a 2 year contract and won’t cost much. Move Jalen to the bench with Amen as the PG. Trade Tate and Landale and filler for a legit backup center. A bench of Amen, Jalen, Tari, and a decent backup center is formidable defensively. This nine man rotation is playoff bound and is perfect for developing our future. FVV Brogdon Brooks Jabari Sengun Amen Jalen Tari Legit backup center. We can probably accomplish this with only giving up 1 FRP and some seconds. Amen and Jalen can be developing their synergies over the next year and a half. Brogdon and FVV will be gone about the same time.
Yes I'm aware, he's been playing terribly and we have a hole at backup center. I just knew it would peak after that shot and hilarity would ensue on Clutchfans.
