Guangzhou is HOT in summer. Shanghai's summer is unbearably hot! What makes it worse is the SMOG! Shaghai's smog is at least ten times worse than LA's, and a lot people don't even use AC in their homes, go figure.

In the state of New South Wales (Australia) we'd been at 90%+ of the state drought declared for years.

At one point 100% of the state was drought declared.

I can only imagine how terrible the smog is there from all the unrestricted coal being burned and the millions of cars with no emission controls. Sometimes in Austin during late spring/ early summer the smoke from Mexican ag fires will drift over central Texas and make the air absolutely miserable ~ I guess it's like that in Shanghai and Beijing all summer.

I'm leaving to Changsha on the 8th for 5 weeks. I haven't lived in 90+ weather with high humidity since I left Houston in '87. Man that was a long time ago. I'm old. Anyway, I'm used to the 90+ dry heat of the desert. Hopefully the adjustment to the moisture won't be too bad.

That Mexican smoke comes over Houston every year - esp in late summer. It's hoorribbble. We have enough problems with our own local toxics, but a lot of that blows north. When the smoke blows in from the gulf, everything gets an 1/16 inch layer of soot. It's all over your car, the sky turns green, it's completely gross. Times like that I want to declare war with Mexico. Maybe if we sent them free tractors and fertilizer they wouldn't have to burn the forests like primitive dumb asses.

Can't imagine what it's like in Guangzhou. Yuck.

Why someone would go to China at this time of a year (for pleasure) is beyond me.

How did you get that reading? China is not known for measuring/reporting temperature in Fahrenheit.

I'm in the north working my way west. It's a dry 42 c here in Xi'an. I think the terracotta army just melted.

It was a lot easier making all those terracotta soldiers since they didn't need a kiln to fire them just left them outside for awhile.
