the only thing he said i can even slightly agree with is that Steve Francis might not be the solution at point guard. He's obviously more suited for shooting guard, but even with that being the case, he's still consistently rated among the top five best point guards in the league so I see little room to complain there. Were this a perfect world (for me) we'd have a young John Stockton or a current jason kidd running the point and Stevie playing the 2guard, but that's just delving into the world of fantasy. We've also got one of the top five highest rated backcourts in the league. Rudy? Former Coach of the Year (ok, I'm not positive about this one but I'm fairly certain) who has coached his way to an Olympic Gold medal and two rings and counting? Again, I see little room to complain. It isn't like he's Bill Fitch for crying out loud....
Granted you have a right to comment on what interests you in my post (the kids way) - the key as always is to get your message accross. But to nitpick and then ultimately avoid the issue is naive; as in Inspector Cleausseau of football and deductive reasoning! I am a rockets fan above all things and probably always will be. I still love Francis and Rudy but that does not make me exuse everything especially when you know that they should know better. I will continue believing that things will get better with time but I wll prefer to see a team (especially the team's leaders) to show some sense of urgency and lead by example.
Invisible fan Shut up if you have nothing to say. Have you ever stood for anything in your life talkless commenting on another's opinion?
Fegwu: You're getting flamed for two reasons. 1. Some newbie comes on here about once a day to start the exact same thread. It is getting ever so tired. 2. Steve and Rudy and the rest of the team are playing (and coaching) more exciting, better basketball than they have since Clyde Drexler retired. And they're in the top half of the standings in the West. I'm not big on correcting spelling, but when your main point is that people are stupid and you misspell so many words, it makes you an easy target. Especially when those of us who come here every day are so sick of the Steve sucks/Rudy sucks threads in their best season together. I'd suggest watching the games more closely, appreciating the improvement if you truly are a longtime fan and, most importantly, lurking for a while to figure out how things work around here. I can guarantee you your point of view (re: Rudy/Steve sucking/being dumb) will be well represented by some other newbie, if not tomorrow then the next day. How many minutes til this thread is locked?
Personally, I feel this is a great time to be a Rockets fan. We have one of the top 4 point guards in this league. The best young big man. A new offense. Playing inspired defense. Remember, this team is not expected to be an elite team this year and contend for a title. Its all about growth. Every game is a learning experience for this young team. We have our ups and downs and this will continue all season probably. Bottom line is, we are on pace to finish with 18 more wins than we did last year. Im exicted!
Batman I appreciate your post. I don't have any problem with a "newbie" expressing themselves even if it is something you have seen before. The fact is that there are many frustated rockets fans out and airing the opinions is there only form of healing. But if this issue continues to show up everyday does not tell us something? Like I have said may times I truely love the rockets and that makes their oft "losers" approach all too painful to swallow. Take for instance - steve francis is a great "player" but he is has not distinguished himself to be a better point guard than Moochie (and that fact hurts). The team does not have to do much to please but play together for one another - don't make the same mistakes 4 games in 2 weeks. It baffles me that some of our players do not understand what it takes to win. I watch the team closely now like I did during the Drexler times you were talking about. They are obvious "potentially" better that team but by frustration is that they have been average for too long when I know they can be better. I am not a Stevie/Rudy suck guy but many things they do make you scratch your head and wonder. Oh by the way I apologize for the low blow on Rudy in reference to his now conquered drinking problem - I certainly did not have to go there.
Codell Your post is certainly exciting - it reminds me to count my blessing. I know we are better and I hope it starts to show up "most" nights. I want to see these promising lot (Griffin, Yao, Steve, Cat, Boki, kenny, etc) come together and become 1 team. For now it is just mixed feelings..........but there is hope.
