It feels as if there's not much to watch the Rockets for

My current personal situation puts me out of position to catch most Rockets' games. But if it wasn't the case, I'd be following the team, if only to see the continued development and evolution of the team from its previous formula during the JVG era.

Brooks growth has been impressive, Martin is an interesting quality, Scola is still the top hustle man on this team and once Ariza comes back we will be seeing something interesting in how the team is going to be set up in the future.

Exactly. The last few games he's been lighting it up and he's going to the line like crazy as advertised. It takes a while for a player to get adjusted and even longer for a team to adjust to new players. I have a lot of confidence in Adelman's ability to build an identity around the players he's given and expect that the Rox will emerge with a new identity that takes advantage of the strengths of his players.

It's really too bad these injuries hit when they did. I think the team is much better than its record of the last five or six games indicates, but it has just been gutted defensively by injuries. If Ariza and Lowry had been playing, the Rockets would be right in the thick of things.

Kevin Martin is putting up great numbers with the Rockets. He has been scoring very well for us. It was just a few bad games he had. But on other nights when he stepped up big and played well throughout the game, I don't see anyone saying anything but when he had a bad game, everyone is coming down on him.

But he standing on the perimeter was because Brooks is just dribbling the ball forever. Every time the Rockets hand the ball to Martin, they all iso and left him out there by himself. There is no pick and roll for him. He can create for himself, that's why he average over 20 ppg. Stop bashing him already. We finally got the wing player we needed.

I'm sorry Kevin Martin isn't Wade, Lebron, Roy or Kobe. But he is the best scoring SG the Rockets can get. I mean, who else were they suppose to get? Andre Iggy isn't as good of a scorer as Martin but most of ya want him because he's athletic and can smash the rim.

A lot of you guys seem to prefer a player that do flashy dunks and attempt a lot of shots just to score as much as Martin who take less shots and score more efficiently.

Martin isn't flashy and freakishly athletic, maybe that's why most of you isn't so fond with him. But Kevin is the guy that Rick Adelman and Morey wants and trust me, they know best than all of us. They traded Carl landry for Kevin Martin for a reason. Morey is a genius and trust me, if he traded Carl for Martin, that means Kevin can bring what the Rockets need.

So stop blaming everything on him already. He's doing what he is told and he is playing hard and still trying to adjust to his new team. It isn't his fault that Brooks doesn't pass him the ball sometimes in crucial situations. Its not his fault that his frame is skinny and that he's isn't strong like Ron Artest. Not everyone is a good scorer and a strong tough aggressive defender like Ron Artest in the NBA. Kevin Martin is what he is. He's unique. He's different. He's not flashy and just because he's on the Rockets now, doesn't mean that he would all of a sudden become a strong powerful aggressive defender and a great clutch go to scorer like Wade, Lebron, or Kobe.

Just be happy that we got the best player possible. Stop asking so much from him. He's not a superstar. He's a borderline all star player that can't really do much but flat out score. He's not an all around type of player but a scorer. We can't expect him to score big night in and night out. With Houston, he is currently averaging close to 23 ppg right now. That's more than Brooks, Ariza, Scola and Landry.

Tonight is his ninth game with Houston and he scored 30+ three times out of nine games. His assists average went up with Houston along with his scoring average. His FT percentage is phenomenal and we just cannot ask for more than that. He is playing very well with us and he is leading this team in scoring. Expect him to do even better once Lowry comes back.

One thing that keeps me watching, and may get me laughed at for it, is the chemistry of this team. It's just nice to be a fan of a team that can stay out of trouble off the court, and just get along so well.

When Hill got his first points in that Detroit game, dang near everyone jumped off the bench to cheer for him.

This team gives it their all each and every night, so as long as they continue to give effort, I'll be watching every night to cheer them on.

    Go Rockets!

I was more or less wondering if there's anything else going on that would give me interest. And somewhat of a rant.

So you're saying that a person is not a true Rockets fan unless he'll enjoy every single Rockets game no matter the situation.

Got it. In that case, I am a bandwagoner. I admit that I only watched about half the games during Francis dribble-mania days because I got sick of that team. I admit that I watched more games recently to see how Martin fits in, whereas before I skipped some games during the middle of the season. Glad to know that this is not being a true fan. Because I don't devote my Rockets viewing on a consistent basis.

So you're saying a clutchfans member since 2002 has less knowledge of being a Rockets fan than a member fro 2009? Your logic is astonishing. Thank you for figuring out from my status that I couldn't have possibly followed the Rockets pre-2002. And yet you know intuitively that a member since 2009 must be a long-time Rockets fan. It's rare to see such amazing display of deduction skill.

16/30 NBA teams make the playoffs. The league fears the Rockets can make the playoffs and give the Lakers some trouble in a seven game series. Last year, they were the only team to take the Lakers to seven games. Fans say/believe it's because the Lakers underestimated the Rockets. That the Rockets caught them off guard, and not that the Rockets played well and beat them three times.

If it happens again as an 8th seed rather than a 4th seed, the NBA ranking system won't appeal to fans like it does now. The Lakers sell because they are the best. They are number one. If an 8th seed can threaten them then the ranking system won't mean as much.

The truth is on any given night a team can play hard and win if they make shots. It's that simple. However, the NBA is more focused on the business side of basketball. That doesn't stop me from supporting this team.

    Next season.

yea, im sure the league and lakers are ****ting their pants at playing one of the worst defensive teams in the league. we are nowhere near the same team as last year. we would not threaten LA in the slightest. the rockets are just not a very good

I think we would if we made the playoffs. We beat them 1/3 times this season, and I bet we will beat them in two weeks.

The Rockets play up/down to their competition.

everyone just seems to forget this year is a developing year and not a must win it all year. relax people. I guarantee you if you watch games from the beginning of the year versus what the team is now, you will see a big improvement. I want to say the first part of the season was a bit flukey since nobody knew how the rockets were going to play. After everyone figured it out, it was pretty much down hill from there. how our players responded to that is what makes it interesting. yes a lot of our players will make bone headed decisions down the stretch and cost us games, but they are learning on the fly with nobody else to pick them up. you can only do so much with role players. there's a reason why superstars are superstars and late first rounders/second rounders are what they are. so take it easy and enjoy the ride.

beat them without gasol.... our defense is terrible, we would not stand a chance. this team cant even beat sacramento and detroit, and did u ever think that maybe we aren't playing UP to our competition, maybe they are just playing DOWN to us ??

    think about it.

Man, people complain now that there's not much to watch the Rockets for? People are spoiled!

I just wonder what fans of the Nets are saying. I mean, people still watch those guys on TV and actually go to the arena and watch! Talk about not having much to watch for. Or any of the other dozen + lottery teams.

How about just watching because it's entertaining to watch a game of basketball particularly when you have followed each and every player on your team so closely?

I agree. I feel kinda bad for the "real" season ticket holders, the ones who actually fill out the seats at tip off.

But once we knew Yao was down indefinitely, everyone with half a brain knew we were not a contender. I have absolutely zero problem in the way Adelman has handled the team. He should be coach of the year candidate, but of course will not. I'll admit I'm not near as much into the games as last season, but its still hella fun watching what RA does with the new guys. He is completely free to experiment.

I still watch every game. I am starved for sports entertainment. I don't care about college sports, winter olympics was not my thing, and baseball is not up an running and how exciting is NFL player movement right now?

Go Rox. I know they are not making the playoffs, I know that they just don't have the depth due to injury to compete but I still watch.

I hope that the Rox don't give away the sun, moon, and stars for a star player to put next to yao and take us back to when all teams had to do is double yao and Tmac and beg the other rox to beat them. No depth is a big problem.

Meh, totally not trying to pile on, but this game is exactly what some of us were trying to say. There is always a reason to watch and support the team

Was this thread made after the Rockets were behind in the 4th?

    If so, bad timing.

Support the team or shut up, with all due respect. :)

You are so right..... There is no Rockets team without Yao Ming....

I mean they are a last place team and worst than GS, Philly and the Timberwolves....
