Utah took the Rockets lightly that game, happened last year when the Rockets lost to a Pelicans team with everyone out - natural letdown when they heard no RW, JH..etc. - The games at home after a losing steak, and couldn't put teams away said volumes Dallas without Luka, and the Pelicans who have a bunch of young players and a terrible coach.

Perhaps....but Westbrook ranks in top 5 defensively (point guards) and Covington ranks up there defensively
not only this year, but every year. Having both in the starting lineup goes a long way defensively.

Note Iggy status as well in the article linked below

08-09 and 17-18 called. Those teams both sustained injuries to 2+ rotation players and lost to the Champs in 7.

Somehow you can get iggy and Covington out of Capela this would be cool. I think this is what morey is working on. Just a hind sight people.

Morey has been on the job 13 years with players like Yao Ming, Tracy McGrady and James Harden and never even reached the NBA Finals once, don't talk to me about team chemistry, the guy is overrated by fanboys here! Many franchises never even get to have one of those type superstar players during a GM's tenure - he has been rather fortunate as a GM.

James Harden's brilliance has covered up a lot of Daryl Morey's terrible roster building efforts through the years. Drafting 4 power forwards at the same time, trading first round picks like they were candy handed out at Halloween in Ty Lawson, Corey Brewer, and Jeremy Lin transactions - the guy has gotten a free pass around here for far too long.

How stupid do you have to be when you realize all those advertising signs pasted all over Toyota Center in Chinese symbols that your franchise relies almost exclusively on Chinese advertising revenue from China, and you are going to tweet about Hong Kong? He will be the first to tell you that the NBA is a business that pays his fat salary from revenue, no business can afford to piss off their biggest advertising client.

The NBA has spent decades promoting and investing in China to grow their game, and one hubris and ego driven tweet, undid 25 years of laying the business foundation for the growth of basketball in China - at the current pace - the NBA may lose a Billion Dollars over a 5 year period.

The guy should have been fired on the spot, any other business would have done this - Daryl Morey lucked out we were in a trade war with China at the time, and there was considerable support for the movement in Hong Kong around the world. And it would look bad for the NBA if they fired Morey from on optics standpoint. But at any other company, he would have been terminated that very day.

Everyone involved in the NBA likes the money, they all understand it is a business first and foremost, and you don't screw around with the money.

Morey's need for attention on social media - and making that tweet under the circumstances is one of the dumbest things anyone has ever done in the entire history of the NBA - and that is saying a lot given the stupid decisions made regularly in the NBA.

Before you start extolling the virtues of Daryl Morey as a GM, wait until you see the bill for all his stupid transactions that is coming due over the next 5 years, with repercussions playing out for over a decade of having one of the worst franchises in basketball. Daryl Morey mortgaged the entire Rockets future, for what? A western Conference Finals appearance?

Morey's strategy of trading away first round picks for lateral moves is why the Rocket's franchise is doomed for the next decade! This isn't on Tilman Fertitta - if you build your franchise correctly, you should never be in the luxury tax to begin with - stop handing out ridiculously bad contracts to Ryan Anderson, Chris Paul, Eric Gordon and Clint Capela - and build your team through the draft. No more excuses for Daryl Morey on this board.

Interesting that Tucker not on list. And Vuc and Lopez over Clint makes me a little dubious.

Some things I agree with and some things I do not. Morey definitely should have understood the repercussions of his tweet. Do I stand with Morey and his stance. YES! F* China and their Corona Virus A$$. He should have definitely known though that the league and especially the Rockets would get a hit on revenue. There is a reason why China sucks. They are petty and he should have known that.
Building through the draft is not something he was opposed to but don't forget Les didn't want that. He wanted to remain competitive. So Morey did what he could.
A lot of these roster moves I guarantee were part of Mr. Landry's decisions. So if there is anyone to blame. It is him. He's the one that doesn't have the win now mentality. He's at a profit now mentality.

Tucker is a great defender in Rockets minds, but the numbers say otherwise

    From 82games.com
    http://www.82games.com/1920/19HOU11.HTM

Tucker allows opposition to have a high PER against him.....
at SF is 29.3 PER to Tucker’s 0 PER (at SF)
at PF is 19.3 PER to Tucker’s 11.2 PER (at PF)
    at C it’s 22.3 PER to Tucker’s 16.3 PER (at Center)

But Tucker is the heart and soul of the team so you don’t trade him......and the few points he gives your team.

At his age, he really should be a back up.
