He never was a liability on defense here. That narrative is outdated and literally a hoax. The guy played well here and was benched for reasons outside of basketball
On the contrary...I'd ask you if you are capable of properly rating someones defense if you think he was better than Harden.
perhaps the same reason noone signed melo for a while btw faried would have wiped off the floor with the hornets scrubs
This is the hoax. I dont get the agenda here that requires gaslighting on Farieds behalf. Everyone bashes on bad defensive players here and can't wait to part with them, Anderson, Beasley, McLemore, even Harden. Why does Faried get a fan club? We all watched the Jazz series that year. Some people were drunk or forgot. He's the type of high energy low IQ player that fans love but coaches aren't going to play because one bad positional player blows up everyone and gets everyone in foul trouble. Fans see weak side recovery blocks sometimes and so that makes everything peachy.
Because he is the Manimal. If Ben McLemore had his nickname "Young Sav" (?) and either it was cool or more well known, people would be clamoring for him.
Hogwash. We beat the Jazz like a drum and he wasn't given enough time to make any fair assumptions about his defense. HOWEVER, when Capela went down we were left for dead until he got here and contributed immediately. At no point when he was playing consistently was Faried a liability. He was actually BETTER than Capela at times
That’s the million dollar question. Double double machine who hustles his arse off. Heard he was going to the Lakers last year and they just had a major surplus of centers.
Similar situation now....he’s proven to be effective when Capela went down and we immediately reversed a horrid season to being a three pointer away (thanks Paul George) to home court advantage in the playoffs.
Feels like this team is right back to being happy with the nightmarish small ball and overplaying Tucker (who gets worse with age) at center. What a mockery that this idiot coaching staff thinks you can win by playing a 6’7 guy at center. Loser that Worrell kept making fun of tore us a new one against the Spurs and some guy with a long last name that sounds like a disease tore us a new one last night. We win these games with Faried or any other power type center.
I don't mind debates but the "posters are making up fake stories about Faried" stuff is pretty annoying. No assumptions. Those games were real. We commented on them at the time. And not just me: him, and him, and him, and so on. We also all loved Faried for specific reasons: good rebounding, high motor, fun to watch. But in the NBA you can do several things well but if you can be targetted in the playoffs, you'll be exploited. Coaches know that. Let's consider the preponderance of evidence. Why would D'Antoni cut him to 56 minutes in the playoffs? He played the corpse of Iman Shumpert 109 minutes. Faried hasn't been signed by another NBA team for 2 years, while rosters have been expanded and illness and injuries have been wrecking everyone. This writeup explains what we saw (and this was before the Rockets): The Dreamshake also noticed these things in the 2019 offseason: Triangulating all of this.... no, I don't think it's made up hogwash. The regular season run was good, and fun, and it sucks that he got injured at one point, but there was a fatal flaw that some people choose not to remember.
How do you mention a preponderance of evidence but then list a series of hypotheticals? We DON'T KNOW why MDA benched him because he was playing phenomenal until his minutes mysteriously dropped towards the end of the regular season. Also no team picked him up when we acquired him, but he came here and SAVED us from being a lottery team. So who cares about other teams? You're using outdated talking points ignoring his actual performance with us
Exactly. PJ is really a SF but plays PF. Not anywhere near a center. The reason he struggles is because he's not a finisher at the rim, nor does he have the high energy Faried has. The reason Faried was successful here is because he plays like a center but runs the court like a guard
Granted Faried is not the best option at center. But starter Christian Wood is out indefinitely, and flash from the past of beast Demarcus Cousins (like the 28 point 17 rebounds performance) are few and far between, I think Faried could fill in during the regular season at least. Play Kurucz and Faried while Wood recuperates. What's the latest with his ankle sprain?
This thread always amused me. Some people advocating that Faried was our savior, yet no NBA team wants him?
