i vividly remmeber harden not being fond of hi5 ing faried after they connected sucessfully on series of plays in his early days on our team during RS... for some reason harden didnt like him imho
I agree. I remember observing that too. He also did that with Hartenstein as well. They had a warm beginning and then Harden started to get frustrated with Hartenstein during longer durations on the court and his Stonehenge hands that wouldn't make some of those tough catches that Clint got accustomed to getting. In hindsight, Harden had so much influence on the organization that it's not out of the realm of possibility that he influenced the organization not to extend with Manimal and to let Hartenstein go before the Bubble which was a mistake in my view. We essentially kept Hartenstein over Bruno which Harden didn't seem fond of either. We also kept guys around like Bobby Brown (don't get me wrong, I love him and have bumped into him a lot locally) but that plus having some of his F&F's on the Rockets' payroll all seem to be adding up. In the end, I'm just speculating but I think if Harden was indeed more hands off with player personnel (biggest example being the CP3 trade) then we certainly would have been better off ... again with the unfair advantage of retrospect. Having player buyoff and trust on acquisitions is essential for trust... but balanced. Once you cross the threshold where the player override your (e.g., Daryl's) judgment then you risk introducing certain bias that could be detrimental.
We just need him to be our third center. We’re not asking him to make the All-Star game. Averaging a double double for a third center is more than adaquate.
Yeah. Seems Noel is in Thibb's good graces on the Knicks so I would absolutely go for Manimal. I feel like the Nets might go for Manimal as well. Regardless, it was a big mistake to let Hartenstein go because I feel that he would drive with these guys and the try-hards on the team with the defensive hyperactivity. Even though Hartenstein didn't have the versatility on defense, he hustled and that's what I loved about him. His energy. If Manimal is around, he brings that plus experience. I hope we can secure something like that. Kurucs is just not cutting it. IMO, he doesn't have "it". He posts his one made three on his Instagram despite the team losing even if it's understandable as a personal highlight, it doesn't seem like a player that is hungry enough to go further and make individual sacrifices for the betterment of the team so far. He could prove me wrong but it looked bad every time he is out there. So he's taking the slot of a potential big man. Perhaps there's a gem on our Viper squad but I haven't analyzed beyond KPJ, Thomas, and Queen so far.
I know ppl love watching his highlights while he was here but this dude cannot play any form of team defense. He would never fit into our defensive minded 5 out system. He is literally the anti Stephen Silas system player. Can't play defense or shoot from the 3. We might as well sign Javale McGee when he gets bought out because that'll be a better fit.
hahahha ! you coach him brother then... you coach him!...(what a weird notion isnt?)... he can absolutely play defense... you are being paid MILLIONS to coach, then you coach people, teach them to be good... btw mcgee is awesome defensively nobody here believes rockets compete for championship then suddenly they are against signing players with the smallest of flaws because it will be exposed in the finals or something...lololol
Silas deserves a lot more money than he makes if you think he can somehow magically make a 31-year-old who last played professionally 2 years ago, good at defense. He's been through how many coaches and so far none of them have been able to accomplish that feat! I loved the 2 dozen games or so we got with the guy a couple seasons ago, but Faried is not going to fix this team. I'd rather find a G league big and give him some run.
Zero difference. You want to ignore the overwhelming number of games where he sucked for a handful of games where he was pretty good. Just like if you were to point to a few games where ANY crappy shooter had a hot few games. Do you think the NBA is this magical place where you just take large humans throw some money and coaching at them and they turn into rotational pieces for your favorite franchise? That’s not how it works. KF is out of the league for a reason. There are an endless number of younger bodies with potential for growth that would be worth taking a shot on over an aging vet guy who hasn’t sniffed any league interest in a couple years.
worse than harden? are you sure you are capable of properly rating someones defense? his defense didnt seem to matter when he turned our season around 2 years ago, in fact i would claim otherwise he helped us turn around because his defense was solid...
faried was already good at defense and yes thats coaches job to make him even better....whats the point of coach if not to get greater than average production from the players we have? ... nobodys talking about fixing the team... this team doesnt even need fixing just helping us overcome the injuries
do you even know what constitutes the defense and the contributions? i am afraid the energy cant be quantified yet in this of analytics age tell me then how the best team of all times werent able to abuse faried when he was so terrible at defense? lolololol
Yeah, perimeter defense is key. They don't have the agility there, otherwise they'd both be getting paid good money lol.
Faried only came with the energy on offense. He was confused on defense and it was not just because he could not switch. He got burned regularly in drop coverage when he played for Denver AND Brooklyn. There was a reason that Nets benched him on a team with young inexperienced players. Then they cut him because they could not trade him. For anything. Harden is not only a better post defender (96th percentile) than Faried, Harden is a better perimeter defender as well. I was a Faried fan as well but he has never been a good defender.
offense is the best defense when you score its lot harder to get transition baskets for the opp and its not like we dont have one sided players already... tucker is terrible on offense yet hes serviceable same goes for faried just in the opposite direction
