Right. Phoenix on the other hand drafted correctly landing Ayton & Booker and making the WCF four years after winning the lottery.

I never said anything about drafting Queta in the first round. I've said Queta is
my fallback big because the numbers are comparable. With exception to
the fact that Queta does not shoot 3's. Queta would have been drafted
by way of the Rockets picking up second round picks before the draft
(note Kemba trade happened before the draft) or buy second round pick.

The only reason Bassey has dropped is because teams fear his tibial plateau
fracture in year two of college. If you look at the numbers it's incredible that
Bassey has put up such good numbers this past season. The psyche of coming
back from a major injury is difficult. Bassey passed with spades if you watch
him run the court, block shots, accept lob dunks and rebound.

Dallas would be wise to invest in moving up into the first round to select Bassey.
Every team needs a "do the dirty work" PF/Center. You can't contend without at
least one. Surprises me that you like Gafford but fail to see Bassey as the same,
but with 3-pt potential (which is ideal for Silas offense). If you look at
Cousins (3P potential to space the court), Patton (3P potential to space the court),
Spalding/Lamb (3P potential to space the court) and Olynyk/Wood (3P potential
to space the court). One can see that the Rockets recognize this fact and have
tried to address it with cheap options or G-league tryouts.

Now Bassey-Mobley comparisons:. Mobley is the number ranked center
while Bassey has been the number 3 ranked centers on most scouts "Big Board"
This the comparison I try to make. One is 218 pounds.
Claxton played something like 32 games of this 72 game season.
Wood played 41 games of this 42 game season.
Nerlens Noel has missed tons of games in his career.

TNT/ESPN commentators laugh how Embiid was pushing around Capela
so easily. But they all came back with, "and Capela is 245 pounds....not a small
guy.". In essence they are saying can you imagine a 218.....215 pound guy
having to defend him the whole game. It's absurd to think Claxton can guard
Embiid or Jokic. They are going to go for 50 points and 25 rebounds. These
skinny centers can't do it for the entirety of a full season. Plans are to get
back to 82 games.....Wood and Mobley would be on injured reserve after
    one month.

Mobley is too upright to play SF consistently in the NBA and too weak to
play center or PF consistently as a starter. The only times Nerlens Noel
has played for significant times has been when he had a big to do the
dirty work of rebounding/guarding opposing big man (with Stephen Adams
    and now Julius Randall/Robinson).

Mobley and Wood have to have a big man next to them if they start. I watched
the back to back vs Minnesota at season's end......Olynyk was getting destroyed.
by KAT. Wood would have had no chance keeping that guy out of the paint.
I looked up Wood rebounds of 11 or more. Wood had about 15 games
with 11 or more rebounds in a game. 8 of those games coincided with
the Rockets shooting less than 35% from 3......an indication that Wood
gets a lot of rebounds by hanging out near the free throw line anticipating
long rebounds. That's not to say Wood doesn't get missed 2's near there
as well. Sure he gets some near the basket as well. Some.

The difference I see is you draft a big risk Center/PF/SF with the #2 pick
in the draft when Center/PF's are seen as risks to begin with early in the
first. I'm selecting my big in Bassey at the end of the 1st where bigs
    belong.

You are hoping for a Unicorn.......you and I see the NBA vs College game differently.
I saw Shabazz Napier dominate college/tournament.....too small for the NBA.

I saw Jeremy Lamb dominate the college/tournament.....too lame for the NBA.

I saw the media fawn all over John Henson and think, "what do they see?" Been nothing
    in the NBA.

I saw Thon Maker garnish praise galore.....from our very own holic.....now he
is out of the league. Never gained weight or develop a jump shot.

You may be seeing the college game as equal to the pro game and feel
that all these players translate the same to the NBA level. I don't see it
that way. Green went up against former NBA players and former great
college players......in college you have a lot of guys that are not going to
make it in the NBA. They will be accountants or used car salesmen after
college. Even in the G-league there are not as good of 3-point shooters
along the perimeter as in the NBA. Name a G-league team like the Sun's
that have the percentages equal to CP3, Booker, Bridges, Cameron, etc.
The spacing in the NBA will make Jalen Green look amazing.

Green just needs to understand his speed is elite......stop calling for head takes,
shoulder shrugs and strong man steps. I was always taught watch the opponents
waste line and I was an elite defender if I may say so myself. Green takes himself
out of the play at times......John Lucas can change that. Going back to Jeremy
Lamb.....he wishes he had the speed of Green or the leaping ability of Green.
This is why Green will overcome where Lamb can't. Despite both being thin.

I feel I can project Green, Kuminga, Mobley vs NBA players.....away from the
college game or G-league experience and I question Mobley more than the
others. The Pac-12 is considered soft or finesse.....West Coast offense stuff.
Little to no contact.......how good would Mobley be in the Big East or Big
10? I wonder. The NBA will push him a little further away from his comfort
zone for shooting that hook shot (before he receives the ball). That's what the
NbA does.....they are quicker, faster smarter players.

    In basketball.....not accounting.

IMO he's got as good a chance if not better than any of the other top prospects in this class. He's got the most potential at being an elite two way player

That's actually laughable, Luka and Booker would have made them contenders for the next Decade

So you can project Green-Kuminga-Mobley to NBA and of all three, you doubt Mobley's defense the most???

You believe Bassey will be a capable 3ball shooter in Silas 5 Out system, but not Mobley?

And there are very few 5's if any that can stop Embiid and Jokic, there is a reason both were MVP candidates all season.

Length and speed bother those guys as much or more as size/muscle but no one is stopping either player, least of all a project like Bassey.

Bassey is not going to start alongside Wood, let's be real. He will be a backup - at BEST.

And neither Claxton or Henson have Mobley's IQ or ball skills.

If they did, then they would have been top 2 picks in their draft.

And I did like Gafford, but to back up Wood - not replace him or start alongside of him.

I like the idea of adding a vet 3-D center with size like Baynes. But unlikely a 36 year old will sign on a rebuilding team like Rockets.

But Wood (the skinny center) was in the running for his 1st All Star and MIP before his injury while the muscle 5 for the Raptors was barely getting playing time. Raptors were absolutely horrible with Baynes on the floor.

Olynyk had a much better season.

I'm saying if Mobley can shoot 3's then Bassey can. Bassey shot 1 more per
game. He is going to be left side open at the 3-pt line as both the SG/Center
defenders follow Green/Porter/EGo/Wall down the middle of the lane.

Who drew the defender's at Western Kentucky? Nobody
I saw Bassey vs Boston and he did all right. Cougars were #12 ranked
and Gorham and company are no pushovers. They double teamed
Bassey the whole night. 38-39 at halftime and Houston made the adjustments. K Sampson is a good coach. Better than the Hilltoppers coach.

They beat a very good Alabama team (best game of the year I saw was
Alabama vs LSU). Bassey had 27 points/12 rebs. Lost to #15 West Virginia
by only 6. Bassey 15 and 8 rebs. The thing is, Bassey is probably double
    teamed every game.

I saw Mobley do a terrible job of keeping Alfonso Plummer in front of him
on the perimeter. But yet the media tells me he is a great defender. I don't
see it. Morant, Steph Curry, Wall, Westbrook all NBA guards don't fear
getting by Mobley....it's his length catching up from behind. But that can
be negated by cutting into his path and doing hesitation dribbles. CP3
will pile up the fouls on Mobley by getting by him and hesitation dribbles
and the faking the lunge to layup, but instead jump backwards into
Mobley. Mobley running up CP3's back.

I know, Mobley can guard all 1's thru 5's in college but then you tell nobody
can guard player x or Morant, Wall, CP3, Westbrook, Tre Young, Murray (Den),
Murray (San A), Curry, Kemba, Ball, D Rose, Irving, Lillard, McCollum, Fox, Holiday,
Conley, Brogdon, D Russell,Clarkson, Halliburton, Tyrus Jones, Reggie Jackson,
Embiid, Jokic, KAT, Valanciunas, Vucevic, Brook Lopez, Julius Randall, Zion, Capela,
Gobert, Nurkic, Rachaun Holmes, Ayton, Zubac, Dwight Howard,

A 235 pound Bassey has a punchers chance to stand his ground more than a 218
pound man vs most of these thugs.

    Agree to disagree

OMG. You are you acting like they wouldn't have been better off with Luka instead of Ayton? Or Trae Young for that matter? Phoenix would trade Ayton and and as many other guys/picks as it took right now.

You take the best player available and you figure it out. If you have the best players available, you can use some of them to trade for need later if it's still an issue by the time you're ready to compete. But what if you did something stupid like picked Ayton over Trae Young and then Clint Capela or Jarett Allen became available for cheap? Because both of those guys did become available for cheap and they're both pretty damn close to as good as Ayton.

I agree with the idea of getting bigger .... But that has nothing at all to do with the OP's agenda of drafting Mobley. There's plenty of size at the 5 spot with Wood and Olynyk.

Where this team is and has been undersized for a few years now is the 3 & 4 spots. We're playing 6'4" dudes at both the 3 and 4 spots on a regular basis.

That's where I'm looking to add "Size" .... Give me some 6'8" / 6'9" dudes at the 4 who can shoot and be disruptive defensively.

That's why I'm looking at Trey Murphy III at the 23rd pick .... 6'9-1/4" & a 7 foot wingspan with guard like ball skills and is the only 50/40/90 shooter in this entire draft class.

    2 Green
    23 Murphy III
24 Someone who fell beyond where we thought they would (Ziaire , Duarte )

Buy a second round pick to use on a defensive anchor on a pogo stick. There's several available.

The Rockets don't have Olynyk, the only player they have at the 4 and 5 is Wood. Everyone else is at the 1-3

We need to be bad for another two seasons.... which coincides when we own our first round picks outright.

You seemed to be implying that they built the team the right way by adding Ayton to Booker, when that was definitely a huge blunder. They've survived it, but they sure wish they could have it back and they'd be in a much better position had they drafted right in the Ayton draft. Thinking of a Luka/Booker tandem is insane. Especially if they still brought in CP3. Might not be enough balls but it sure would be fun.
