i dont "believe" in violence and dont wish death upon anyone. But i do stand by and support Israel's actions. Nothing either of us will say will convince the other person to change their position on the matter. I only posted because of the thread title.
That's total crap. Killing one is just as bad as killing 1000? Then the Holocaust was no worse than the killing of a few thousand people right?
Huh...I do remember an interesting equation that tried to plug in how much one's life was worth (based on media attention-quantity of quality of articles on a particular incident) depending on their nationality. If I can find it, I'll dig it up but from memory, I think one American life was worth something like twenty Arab lives while one Isreali life was worth something like ten Arabs. Sad when you really reflect on it, but such is life.
Seriously, if Canadians or Mexicans were firing missiles into the USA, do you really think we would wait for them to kill a sufficient number of Americans so that we could be sure we were "equal" before we fought back? Would you advocate that position if people were lobbing missles in the general direction of your children? If India started lobbing missiles at Pakistan, do you think the Pakistani Army will twiddle their thumbs until enough Pakistanis to die so that when they attack India they have sufficient slack in the body bag count to act without worrying about killing too many Indians?
You seem to be going out of your way to justify Israeli actions. The examples you use are not analogous to what's going on in Israel/Palestine. A more accurate comparison would be apartheid South Africa.
whether its 6,000,000 or 60,000, or 10,000....its an awful thing of any race/religion whatever you want to think of
does it matter? think i care if you think my opinion is valid or invalid? do i care if you are palestenian?
The difference is that South Africans, white or black, were South Africans, part of the same country. Invalid comparison, but I understand why the Palestinians would want to make that comparison, for all the emotional baggage it brings. So anyway, I guess the answer is no, you wouldn't expect the USA or Pakistan to show the same restraint you demand of Israel?
Canada and Mexico are developed, industrial nations that aren't full of people that got kicked out of their own homeland and are wasting away. Just saying, if you can invalidate a comparison to apartheid South Africa, well, a comparison to Mexico or Canada is more ridiculous.
So you aren't basing your opinion on the facts of the case, but rather how you feel about the two individual parties, right? We shouldn't hold Palestinians to the same standard we hold everybody else because we feel sorry for them?
No, certain circumstances dictate certain responses. What Israel did was provocative at best, incredibly idiotic at worse. Given the situation in the Middle East, a more measured reply would've been appropriate. Israel and Palestine are not two equals like the comparisons you are trying to make; Israel gets millions in US aid and state of the art war machinery...Palestine gets rocks and makeshift bombs. I wouldn't expect Israel to pity Palestine, but a disproportionate reply of this nature...there's no going back from it. This will set peace back for years, more then tin-can makeshift rockets ever could.
your response is a book that has been argued down and disproved? One of the absolute most beautiful aspects of the Quran is that if all the copies were destroyed today, there would be thousands of IDENTICAL copies tomorrow. That many people have memorized it and that many people have made it a major issue not to alter the original words.
If Archbishop Desmond Tutu, who lived through apartheid South Africa, visits Israel/Palestine and says that the Israelis are practicing apartheid then I'll take his words over yours anyday: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/1957644.stm
Sorry for derailing the thread, but how can you make such a ridiculous statement? Ever heard of a thing called the Dead Sea Scrolls? Probably not. Most Muslims don't. They're proof that the Bible hasn't been altered.
His original comparison was perfectly valid. If Mexico, Canada or both were to start launching rockets into the US on a regular basis and 1 person or 1,000 people were killed, you can be damn sure everybody would be gung-ho USA and retaliating. It may not make it right, but the point is that when you're personally impacted, your viewpoint changes. the strong opinions on both sides here show that - while not 100% directly impacted, many here's opinions are clearly "biased" by their allegiances to one side or another. i personally think it's stupid, and both sides are morons. i'm pretty sure that i'm right in that regard. if i live in the area, i save money as soon as possible, buy a plane ticket, and move to some island country somewhere. i've been to the middle east. it sucks anyway...

And as far as the killing of innocent victims goes, dont put a rocket launcher in the center of a residential area. if you live next to the rocket launcher, what do you expect will happen? http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satell...layer&cid=1194419829128&videoId=1230456496945
yeah why doesn't everyone just buy a ticket and move. its a freaking refugee camp. the entire strip. you can't just move. you can't just fly out. haaretz
