yes hamas made israel bomb the mosques and children and women and hospitals. it held a gun to the idf's head and said do it. obviously there is public perception manipulations. idf has a youtube channel. that doesn't mean if israeli weapons are used to kill women and children and police officers and bombs are dropped on mosques and universities and hospitals, its not despicable and wrong and counterproductive and unnecessary.

and yes westerners should be enraged as should any decent human if hundreds of people are being killed. sorry not all of us are immune to human suffering.

Please point out anywhere that I have lied or said anything about anti-jewish? I could care less if you attack me or my religion. I am proud of it.

Keep blaming Israel and the IDF for Hamas' terror, it makes me support israel more. Hamas is a terrorist organization, and I support the war against them and all terrorists.

"relatively little rocketfire for 6 months?" that comment just made me laugh.

The only reason innocent children and women are being killed is mainly because Hamas has used them as shields and will continue to do so.

Keep sending rockets, suicide bombers into israel and this endless cycle will continue.

I will agree to disagree with you, and the majority of this board, and move on. Hopefully the loss of innocent lives on both sides will cause one side to surrender, but I do not expect to see it in my lifetime.

i never did. but you used articles that equated criticism of israel as anti-jewish. if you don't agree/support views you post, i take my criticism back.

how many suicide bombings have occurred in the past 2-3 years? economist said only 4 had died this entire year including a soldier from rocketfire until this week in israel from gaza.

why wouldn't you hope for both sides to understand and come to an agreement instead of wishing loss of innocent life and subsequent surrender?

Morality Question: Who is more evil/Morally Bankrupt?
    1. The man who would hide behind innocent women and children
    or
    2. The man that will kill the innocent women and children to get to that man hiding behind them?

So it is okay to break international laws to achieve an objective?

This was the first time Israeli forces destroyed a mosque during prayer times. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/7809959.stm

Not to mention the evening prayer is almost always full with people.

And to blow up a hospital...? How emotionally scarred must your life have been growing up to disregard the life of wounded and sick individuals.

    Good question.

    The answer is no. 1:

Because if the only way for no. 2 to defend his own life and to defend the lives of his innocent wife and child is to do no. 2, he is not to blame.

The one that is to blame is no. 1. They willingly and cowardly sacrifice their innocent women and children, if only to make no. 2 look bad.

The Geneva conventions specifically state that combatants hiding behind protected individuals and using protected locations for military uses are war crimes, and that the person responsible for breaking the conventions is responsible for any resultant deaths and destruction. So you are absolutely right. It is very wrong for Hamas to break international laws like that.

Hamas is the one violating Geneva conventions? Unpossible!

Hamas\Palestine has not signed any Geneva Convention treaties. Not to mention, there is no "state" of Palestine. They have no representation in the United Nations, how can they be bound by there laws? I do remember Israel signing the 4th Geneva Convention, but not wanting to sign any amending Protocols. Which of the two have UN resolutions targeted?

I was hoping someone would take this tact, because it necessarily meants that you believe that the Guantinamo Bay dentention facility is legal, and all people held there have absolutely no protections under international law. Is that a position that you support? Or do you alter your legal position according to the terms that you find most benificial at the moment?

    I'm guessing the latter.

Great tact. What does Guantanamo Bay have anything to do with the topic at hand? When have I ever mentioned ANY reference to that place?

Is arguing the point at hand that difficult for you? Do you have an answer for the blockade around Gaza and the West Bank? The barrier constitutes a declaration of war on ALL the people trapped inside.

It is like Israel is elevated 5,000 yards in the air fighting with a stuck-to-the-earth Palestine. It has always been an unfair battleground for Palestinians, yet Israel is the place that's shown with good morals.

Britian didn't need to launch further military invasions of Northern Ireland has they were already militarily occupying it along with having armed militias, UDF, Ulster Brigades, and etc.. doing their bidding too.

    UP THE RAH!

Laws apply universally regardless of circumstance. That is the test of law as opposed to mob rule. If your legal position holds, then Guantanamo Bay necessarily is good and legal. Do you think Gitmo is legal? Yes or no? Or will you continue to dodge, because that just makes it look like you know you're wrong.

Actually, as far as I can see, the knee jerk reaction is to ignore every wrong that the Palestine commit because they are the poor oppressed, while everything Israel does, since they are operating from a position of strength, is necessarily evil.

I don't see how anyone could have a heart and defend Israel.

That would be true if the power equation were equal between the two. If both of us have a gun and I hid behind a woman then yes you are absolutely correct but if you have a gun and I have stick yes I might hurt you but it will be very difficult for me to do serious harm.

There is another factor too in whether there are other ways to deal with the conflict where it doesn't come down to trying to shoot or throw sticks at each other. IMO Israel's strategy of collective punishment has greatly contributed to the current situation.

But it is also the responsibility of combatants to look towards the welfare of civilians and for occupiers to look toward the welfare of those occupied.

I don't think either side can claim to dominate the moral high road.

Tell that to the Israeli people whose houses have been hit by rockets and who have had to live in constant fear of rockets and suicide bombers for years. Hamas has repeatedly stated that its goal is the destruction of Israel. This is not having only a stick and not being willing or able to kill.

How else do you suggest to get a hold of cowards who intentionally hide behind civilians?

Undoubtedly. I have said as much.

I am only adressing the specific persistent false claim that Israel is at fault because Hamas uses innocents for shields and mosques and hospitals for weapon storage and production.
