Israeli troops used 9 year old Gaza boy as 'human shield'

This thread is all the more reason why a peaceful coexistence between Israel and Palestine will never occur. People tend to think that because one side is committing atrocities that it's somehow within their rights to either put a bit of fear or subjugation into the other side as reprisal. Both sides are committing atrocities, but no two wrongs can equal a right especially at this alarming rate. If all of the money that was being spent on Israeli armies and Palestinian smuggled weapons were instead spent on basic goods and relations between the two countries then we would have a world even Gandhi would be envious of. This specific thread is talking about two soldiers using a child as a human shield. I don't care which side is doing this, if this was my child, I would surely want something done that would send a message saying that this should never be tolerated ie something more then probation. Regardless of this, I feel for the non-soldiers/non-militants in this war because they are surely the majority and any death to me is a needless death. God help them all.

Here is a what if.

If the script was flipped. A Israeli child being used by a Muslim soldier. Would the soldiers beend demoted? Told not to fight for Allah anymore? Praised? Or would it have even been a story? Would the child still be alive?

ACtually it is true that the Israelis are depriving the Palestinians of a quality education, any business that can compete economically with any Israeli business, etc.

The Israelis aren't the root of all evil, but they are oppressing the Palestinians on a level about equal to what happened in S. Africa during Apartheid, and they have killed many times the number of civilians than the Palestinians have. So it would be better to stop pretending like they are the good guys, when there are no good guys in this, or rather there are good guys on both sides, but neither side is more good than the other.

 

I am not pretending they are the good guys. I am merely balancing it out in view of all the hate from islamists and leftists portraying them as the ONLY bad guys in this conflict.

Unfortunately B-17's and F16's were not yet equipped with the don't kill the children switch that you must believe existed.

 

The children in Gaza throw rocks at tanks and have their food aid shipments cut off by the Israeli military. There is no army of Palestinian children armed with machine guns.

 

Certainly not however there are rules of war and there is honor in war.

 

But only certain countries honor these rules/laws. Doesnt work out if your enemy isnt abiding by them

 

Ofcourse there wouldn't be as much backlash, but are you suggesting that Israel keep its ethics on par with those that they call terrorists?

Do you think a trained IDF soldier should be held to the same standard as a terrorist, with the principle "the least ethical standards are the acceptable ones"?

Is it as shocking to you that a terrorist would do this as if a trained Israeli government employee/soldier does it? Isn't "unusual" what is intended to make the news?

There is an ethical line which we are discussing here, and that line is not drawn by Hamas. It's drawn by the international community, by humans. There is also a standard which we expect, and it is the same for both Hamas and Israel. However, given the guerilla make-up of Hamas, they are more likely to dip below the standards because they are who they are. Israel are less likely because they are properly trained, educated, government officials in a developed democratic nation.

The day someone decides that Israel can do anything terrorists do, is the day the standards will descend rapidly into uncivilized territory.

 

I think most rational people on both sides would agree with this post.

 

Maybe they'll stop holding Israeli soldiers if the Israeli soldiers stop killing Palestinian civilians.
