A steel nail is seen embedded in the skull of a critically wounded 17-year-old Israeli girl, in an X-ray picture taken Feb. 17 at the Schneider Hospital in Petah Tikva in central Israel. The girl was among 26 settlers who were wounded Feb. 16 when a Palestinian suicide bomber blew up a bomb packed with nails in the West Bank settlement of Karnei Shomron. Two Israeli teens were killed in the blast.

Israeli soldiers pose for pictures Feb. 21 beside the body of a Palestinian gunman who was killed in an exchange of fire at a military checkpoint at Baka a-Sharkiya on the West Bank.
