People really get caught up in all of these borders like they were drawn on the earth by God. The truth is that the borders were always either established by force or imposed by some outside superpower. The Palestinian claims to the lands controlled by Israel, Lebanese, Syrian, or Hizballah claims to other lands controlled by Israel, and actually anyone's claims to land controlled by someone else are no more or less valid than those of Native Americans to all of the United States.

A lot in here also seem to have a big hangup on "international law". Guess what, a law is only as meaningful as the ability to enforce it. The UN can pass a billion resolutions telling Israel to leave the settlements and return to the 1967 borders or telling the US not to use incindiary weapons, but until they have the ability to put a stop to it, the reolutions aren't worth the paper they are printed on.

The fact is that Israel holds lands beyond the 1967 borders. There is not likely to be a peace until the world realizes they are not giving that land back without a fight. Once the Palestinians take that land from them, Israel will have no claim to it unless they can take it back. Sorry to have to be the one to break it to all of you, but in the real world of global politics, might makes right.
