I don't see any civilians. Point them out for me please. Now it's not using human shields, it's operating in a "civilian area"? So Hezbollah sets up under some trees, fires some rockets, takes off, and then Israel blows up the nearest building to the event and claims HUMAN SHIELDS! I await your evidence of human shields and not some prejudiced non-sensical rant.

I already have and Israeli video from drones showing Hezbollah shooting rockets from neighborhoods isn't evidence of the use of human shields. This is the propaganda that stronger opponents use against weaker opponents that employ assymetric warfare.

 

I would expect that people's definition of 'human shield' may run the spectrum from combatants hiding in civilian areas, to firing from civilian areas, to physicially hiding behind people. I believe 1 and 2 are occurring with frequency and endangering civilians, but I am not aware of evidence that Hezbollah wants Lebanese to die. There were some claims that Hezbollah was not allowing people to leave targeted areas, but I would think the Lebanese would be speaking up if that were true..although I am aware that some Lebanese are fully supportive of any Hezbollah tactics... eh... who knows?

 

Not that the UN is the final or unassailable arbiter on this issue, but if you put stock in it - they have declared that Hezbollah is using civilians as human shields.

 

I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not, but you're wrong. There have been 'terrorists' in the past who did make peace and held up their end of the bargain.

 

Hezbollah most likely does use human shields. The Israelis were also quiet familiar with the practice of using Palestinian civilians as 'human shields'. In fact, their supreme court had to issue a 'temporary injunction' against the practice in 2002 to address the issue, which was a clear violation of international law.

I don't feel 1 or 2 fall under the category of using human shields though I do not know if there is a technical definition of the term. You cannot engage in guerrilla warfare in urban areas and not run across civilians. Nor can Israel engage guerilla warfare tactics without killing civilians but I think the evidence, in particular pictures of southern Lebanon that show entire blocks completely demolished, shows that Israel's claims of restraint and selective targeting are false.

I also believe if Hezbollah were truly using human shields, they would lose popular support and I would bet Hezbollah has a higher approval rating in Lebanon than George Bush does in the United States.

 

One could argue that Israel using settlements as human shields. It prevents Palestinians from retaking land that they claim as their own.

The human shields are living in those nice buildings in the background. Do you think the Lebanese build big towns and then don't populate them? Your argument is rediculous. I showed you a picture of Hizballah putting civilians in danger and still you are not satisfied. What would be sufficent evidence, a guy standing on the weapon with a big sign that says HUMAN SHIELD in English, Arabic, and Hebrew? If you are not going to admit they are using human shields when I show you a picture of them doing so, there is no point in continuing the discussion.

 

So now you're going to verify for me that the building is full of civilians beacuse there are so many in that picture after all? You're also going to verify for me the distance between that artillery and the building and provide a picture of the surrounding area to give full context of what the entire area looks like? Good deal.

I've never seen someone infer so much from a picture that shows absolutely nothing that is claimed. Look at all those HUMAN SHIELDS!

 

The IDF uses Human Sheilds by the same logic. Do you also claim that since every Jewish Israeli is required to serve in the army, thus Jews everywhere in Israel are using Human Shields and the attacks by Hamas are completely justified!

Your logic is wrong, by the way. Hezbollah is not using human shields any more than the IDF.

Your love for Hezbollah is blinding you. Do you really think those guys in the photo really give a crap about the people? There are only out to kill and be killed. They want to be martyrs and they don't care about the the lives of other people because in their twisted fanatical minds the best the for them is to be martyrs too. They freaking worship suicide bombers and have billboards dedicated to them for the children to have their heroes. To think these guys are not intentionally firing rockets from populated areas falls in the category of blind worship.

And I just find it strange that Hezbollah cant fire missiles at civilians and they are somehow exempt from being bad guys.

If their goal is simply to be martyrs, why don't they engage the IDF in conventional warfare? Why don't they invade Israel? Those two options bring a 99% chance at death.
