Hamas in terms of agency is like a child compared to the IDF modern military backed by international support. How Hamas got into power is irrelevant from the fact that people are making arguments justifying a disprootate repsonse because Palestine as a people voted for Hamas. If my goal is to detach the concept of Palestine people and empathizing with them with the organization that is Hamas then you should probably through reasoning skills figure out my opinion of Hamas itself as a organization. People also have to understand Hamas over the past decade have expanded beyond their terrorism and insurgency in terms providing clinics, food aid, garbage collection etc where these basic services are interacting with Palestinians on a daily basis. And they see a retaliatory response of Isreal killing 10x amount of Israelis and see Hamas as the only group with "will power" to not hold back. It's very easy for a Palestinian to side with Hamas based on the ground conditions and how closed off they are too outside information also.
