After seeing the pictures, I think she should wear long clothes, a headscarf, and a veil to cover her face on top of that.

Uh...I'd like to change my stance on this particular athlete. She can wear as much clothing as she wants.

Man, that chick could make a freight train take a dirt road!

I think a very fair solution to the veil and headscarf dispute would be to make me the absolute ruler and let me determine exactly how much any woman should have to wear.

I bet you anything she'll give up basketball before playing with shorts.

    Rockets03,

In Islam, women are not allowed to wear shorts when men are watching, it's as simple as that.

The reason you guys think she should go by the rules is because you don't believe in God, and hence you can't see what's going on here through a Muslim's point of view - the team is telling her to say NO to God.

Should this kind of "breaking the rules" so to speak be applied to all kinds of religions, or just the so called "mainstream" religions.

In the holy bible, St. Paul wrote about this issue to the Chorinthians (in his first letter to them). He wrote about honoring our head. Paraphrasing he said that a man covering his head dishonors his head (herein Jesus Christ) and a woman who shaves her heard or leaves it uncovered when she prophesies or prays dishonors her head herein her husband.

It is a controversial piece of letter and many and I one I am still trying to understand. I am still exploring what Paul what trying to convey.

But for now, I understand it a cultural thing. There in lies the power of cultures and how it affects those that identify with one. I stand on the side at least for now that says that if a chore or lifestyle contradicts with your religion or culture, stay away from it.

    Developing........

I dont think it says anywhere in the Quran that women should not wear shorts when men are watching.

    And if it does...oh well.

It says women should cover from neck to feet, and their hair. And Men arent supposed to look at women period, and if women know that they will bein the presence of men, then they should cover up.

Why case by case then? Shouldn't all religions be equal under the law.
If my religion advocates nudity in public, can I then dribble my ball on the court while my others are hanging out. :D

I can't believe a human being made out of the same stuff as me would accept this garbage. this kind of dark dictation was talking to walking zombies and not meant for human beings. That way of thinking has nothing to do with life and everything to do degeneration and death. if there is a hell that piece of doctrine came straight from it.

thats a little harsh aint it?

Not all Muslims follow the Quran that strictly. It was written about 1500 years ago. I am sure there are plenty of inhumane things in the Bible, Geeta and the Torah as well.

Some Muslims are just failing to adapt to modern times. I do agree with you about a woman having to cover to be utter garbage though.

I highly doubt any God created man and woman and then decided that one gender gets to do whatever he wants while the other has to suffer.
