stop being so obtuse. obviously "another country" means a non-islamic country - but i think you knew what i meant. http://news.google.com/newspapers?n...xwqAAAAIBAJ&sjid=egMEAAAAIBAJ&pg=3745,3987105 "hakeem olajuwon, the star center for the two-time defending champion houston rockets, said the koran teaches respect for the customs and traditions in whichever country one lives. "its tough for me to understand his position, but in general the muslim teaching is to obey and respect. to be a good muslim is to be a good citizen." http://www.imamreza.net/eng/imamreza.php?id=3121 A Muslim must respect the laws of the land in which he lives, whether that land is a Muslim country or not. If you cannot respect the laws of the country, and there is no way of changing them, i.e. through parliament, then you should go to live elsewhere. in america we have a thing called free speech. we are also a culture which makes use of satire as a means of social commentary. furthermore, it is against our laws and customs to kill people who say things you dont like. if you have a problem with it than you can "git out"!
That is one my favorite lines from the show... nice. I've been looking for a screen cap of that guy doing the "git out" pose... repped!
give me a break! christianity is by far the most mocked and ridiculed person/place/thing on the show...period. they repeatedly make incest jokes about catholic priests. they had a whole episode about it. they show priests w/ little boys on leashes. im catholic and former alter boy even, but im not going around making death threats to them. jesus is a reoccurring character on the show and does stuff like kill people w/ assault weapons, get killed himself by assault weapons, get his ass kicked by satan in a boxing match, watch internet p*rn and host a montel williams style talk show. but you cant even say the name "mohammed" - please! the fact that you make this comment shows that you probably have never even watched the show. in america you have a right to be offended. you have a right to change the damn channel, but you absolutely do not have the right to make death threats against people for saying or doing something you dont like. what a crappy analogy! physically assaulting someone is very, very different from a creating a cartoon (which nobody is forcing you to watch, btw).

I've already posted earlier in the thread that I hadn't watched very much of this show at all, but the more i see of it now the less sense it is making. I just saw there was a canceled episode about "Joozians": http://southpark.wikia.com/wiki/Cancelled http://www.southparkstudios.com/guide/characters/158/ I don't know about you guys, but I find this stuff pretty ****ing offensive And it might well indeed be an expression and muscle-flexing of the free speech laws, but what purpose does it serve other than to offend and incite? Just look at the pages of anti-Semitic comments on the YouTube broadcast of this episode to see the hate it generates: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2QkBFMjlag Sure there is freedom of speech in America, but where do you draw the line? I mean would you be ok with a South Park episode mocking 9/11? Mocking the firefighters who died in the Towers? Mocking the people who jumped off of the Towers to escape the inferno? I mean, under US law, the South Park producers would be perfectly within their rights to produce such an episode. I'm not sure if any death threats on the producers would result from such an episode, but I am sure you guys wouldn't be defending their free speech rights so enthusiastically. Just as I'm sure the rape victims of the Catholic priests and families of bomb victims of Islamist extremists probably aren't too ecstatic about those respective South Park episodes either. All this free speech is real fun up until you become the actual subject of the speech.
You would be totally incorrect. “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” -- Voltaire That is what free speech is about. and if anyone remembers that exact quote from Dennis Miller when he rants about people getting offended at comedians jokes, it is absolutely fitting here. If I can find it, I'll post it.
The episode wasn't canceled. The episode was named "Canceled". You can watch it here. Nobody was murdered when it was shown. Nobody threatened to murder anybody when it was shown.
People who become offended by rubbish is the problem? No, people who say stupid **** are the problem. Or are you somehow implying that I'm Muslim. I thought this level of pathetic fail can only be found in anti-China threads, I guess I have been missing out on all the religion threads. Yeah, free speech. Comedy Central has every right to censor whatever they want. Just like how this forum censors a particular racial word but conveniently allows every other one.
THOUGHT FAIL. "Stupid s***" can mean anything to anyone. For example, I think your post is stupid s***. If I chose to harm you because of it, by your logic, it would be your fault. Hope you're ready to live in a world like that.
You inferred that it was the "s*** talkers" who are the problem. So what the hell is that supposed to mean? You place blame on them, obviously. P.S. Placing blame and condoning violence are two different things... when did I ever say you condoned violence? Don't post again until you're ready this time.
“One man's Voltaire is another man's Screech.” -- Dennis Miller perhaps this one? “I'm a comedian, for God's sake. Viewers shouldn't trust me. And you know what? They're hip enough to know they shouldn't trust me. I'm just doing stand-up comedy.”
I must be the most considerate person ever. Instead of hitting Submit Reply, I actually opened another tab to refresh the thread just to see if you made any edits and what do you know, you did. So now I requoted your whole post along with this little snip you decided to edit in at the end. So much for posting until you're ready. **** talkers that end up inciting violence are of course the problem. What do you rather do, go pat them on the back and buy them a beer for "exposing" the violent kids? Ridiculous. Go drive your friend to a bad neighborhood and start calling everyone names unprovoked until some thugs decide to kick the crap out of you both. I'm sure your friend will have no hard feelings for you.
Wow. "Inciting violence" eh? So once again you're blaming the people who choose to use words, art, music, etc to express themselves over the people who choose to use violence as a means of communication. That is seriously messed up and dangerous thinking. Hopefully no one EVER follows your example or takes you seriously.
Heh, whatever happened to you not saying I condoned violence? This is getting rather uninteresting. If you are intentionally misinterpreting and select quoting everything people say just to discredit them, stop it. Or if you are seriously this just incapable, then I'm sorry to have wrote more than you can process or perhaps not explained myself thorough enough. Either way, good luck in whatever you do, I'm sure you'll need it.
Sounds like you need to stop dancing around your definitions. S*** talkers are the problem. So are they to blame or not? Based on every post you made, how could one draw any other conclusion? And where did I say you condoned violence again? I'm getting a little tired of you putting words into my mouth, but I guess that's all you can do to keep your argument going. Misrepresenting? How? By quoting your exact words? Sounds like you're more bark than bite, cause rather than rational argument and reasoning, I just see you continually trotting out inapt examples, fabricating things which are never said, playing the victim, and then retreating and declaring victory. Keep your good luck wishes, you need it far more than I do.
