We could sarcastically or cynically call it an unlucky streak or we could dig deeper. In 6 of the 8 seasons, Latrell Sprewell was the only player on the Knicks' roster with any sort of transition game. In one other season, VG is on the sidelines frantically waving his arms for Francis to get up the court quicker. If anything, the "lucky" season at 15th best proves the point that it's the players who determine the transition tempo. That 15th best was Mike James and a healthy trio of Sura, Wesley and Jon Barry. I feel very safe in suggesting that had that team been together a whole season, they'd have easily averaged more than their 103.2 ppg. I'll again repeat...the pace is determined by those on the court. If you still want to believe it's Van Gundy, than perhaps a little tip jar wager? Something tells me that this years' Rockets will be higher than 24th.
