I didnt intend my reply as an attack. I simply meant that we forget a players worth until their talents are needed. Its easy for anyone to say Ish is our most expendable player right now. But back when Brooks 1st went down with injury, Ish seemed a Godsend.
He might end up becoming a pretty good backup PG in a few seasons, but right now Ish is probably the 5th-string PG behind Lowry, Brooks, Lee and Williams. Not a high priority for this team.
If they were to waive Ish, Sean Williams should be the one they bring in unless there is a better shot blocker in the D-lg... which I doubt.
My apologies, I misunderstood your post. But you're right, I agree. We sometimes get little desperate to compete short term that we get eager to reach a little bit for quick fixes that would leave us short for the long term.
Unless one of our point guards(Lowry or Brooks) gets traded for a center, I just don't see Ish playing anymore.
Maybe the Knicks will buyout Landry Fields to add a backup center? No way the Rockets just waive Ish Smith.
The Houston Chronicle is reporting that Ish will stay on the roster. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/7365990.html
for all those that want to trade brooks or think he will be traded for a defensive center do yall actually think that ish smith could be a good back up pg on a playoff team?? (Rockets being that playoff team)
So why cant we send him down to the D-league sorry not to familiar on whose allowed to be sent down to the D-league or not
I'm all for sending him to the D League. For him to still be with the team I think he must be showing the coaching staff something special in practice.
Ish has shown flashes of being special and this is just his rookie year. You don't just let talent like that walk out the door for nothing. He's not making a lot so it shouldn't be that big of a deal to make his contract guaranteed.
Awesome!! Thanks for the update. Smith was a very good find. I can see a few teams picking him up instantly if we dumped him. It also gives me hope Brooks maybe traded. We have Lee who can play point as well anyway.
why would u want brooks to be traded hes cheap talent why give him up..only way we should give him up is if we get a star big man in return
This. Not only that, but DM is loathe to release somebody that he believes has a real future. He will not do it for a center that doesn't fit into our long-term plans. The things that Ish brings are skills / characteristics that are nearly as hard to coach as height.
Good news for Ish. I think that means one of our other PGs (won't name any names) is going to be moved.
