Ish can pass. Jeremy can score. Ish cant really score. Jeremy is a decent passer. Ish is fast. Jeremy is also fast. Ish is smaller than Jeremy, which also mean Jeremy can rebound more. I'll take Jeremy Lin
He's also an American. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/NRg-_j1n5zM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ARFmtP8tzms" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
If the Chinese can get along with the Jews, hopefully one day there won't be a need for the "Taiwanese" vs Chinese topics anymore.
For the 0.1% on the board who cares... Lin's father is a Hoklo and his mother a Mainlander. They speak Mandarin at home and not Taiwanese/Southern Min dialect.
Very informative post by Sinobball. You got a chart for "Cantonese"? The girl at 1:26 says she is "Half Taiwanese/Half Cantonese" <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/mcFLfw73O30" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Another question to ponder, which uniform will Jeremy Lin being wearing if he ultimately decides to compete in FIBA competitions?
No chart, since Cantonese people are 100% (Han) Chinese. No such thing as "indigenous" Cantonese. The 5% or so Hong Kong residents who are not of Chinese descent will never identify themselves as Cantonese.
He is American. BTW you do know the Taiwanese people are just Chinese people. They took off during civil war.
。。。。。With due respect sinobball, mainlander are not an ethnicity..... They themselves consist of Han, Mongolian , Tibetan, Thai, Korean, Hmong...and tons of other minorities There will always be conflicts Good job overall to clear things up with the Chart
This picture is from wikipedia. "Mainlander" is a term used in Taiwan's official demographic surveys, not unlike the term "Hispanic" in US Census (Hispanic isn't really a race). In this context, "mainlanders" =/= citizens of Mainland China. Rather the term refers to people living in Taiwan (and their descendents) who immigrated from Mainland China somehow after 1945 which is when Taiwan was returned to Chinese rule from Japanese rule. You can check out this article if you are interested http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Taiwan
Hoklo is the same as Southern Fujian Chinese, a province of Mainland across the Strait, to Taiwand Island.
