Okay, so Golden State claimed Ish off the waivers... So basically we swapped third string pg's with Golden State. Personally I would rather take Ish.
I would take Ish at this point. He runs a team better, while Jeremy is a better rebounder and defensive playmaker. However, being able to make your teammates better, which Smith has over Lin, is the most important trait of a PG.
The Chinese American Guy should go back to Harvard where he belongs! There he can assist the nation as opposed to a mediocre NBA team.
We already have an Ish Smith type in Jonny Flynn. Though we have a Dragic type in Jeremy Lin. Golden State has Ish so whats it matter, not like we'll get him. But Ish started and WON games with the Rockets last year (2-1 starter). That is more proven than Flynn or Lin on the Rockets. {Also though...it was Ish starting and Lowry that got ATE up by John Wall for the triple double. Maybe Lin can be a "Wall Stopper"} Its a coin flip really
Watching Ish was Fun. He threw some breathtakingly flashy passes and the fast breaks (Bud + lee Jams) were electrifying.
Ish has potential but at this point he's like a homeless man's ricky rubio. Lin actually plays really good defense and has a working jumpshot. He's just the better player, I dunno why GS waived him just to get Ish.
He was waived in order to have more cap space/money to offer Jordan that the clippers wouldn't match. Plan didn't work, they lost Lin and Williams for nothing and claimed ish off waivers to fill their roster.
RocketsRed is correct. GS told Lin they would pick Lin right back up if he cleared waivers, but they couldn't have their cake and eat it too because the Rockets snatched him up.
Lin. I like what the kid is showing. He makes Flynn expendable and could make Dragic trade bait when the trade deadline comes around depending on his progress and what our record is. I'm pretty sure Dragic won't be coming back unless he gets the salary he wants.
Anyone notice that Lin tried to set Dragic up for a wide open 3 pointer when it was 93-95, and had his man totally blocked but the Dragic idiotically tried to drive to the basket and then turned it over on a palming violation. Lin also had an excellent defensive boxout on a TJ Ford shot. Instead of watching the shot he turned his back to the basket, found his guy and boxed him out. He plays very smart basketball.
