    1. Check out Daryl Morey's twitter to get an idea. His distribution is unbelievable, so far.
    2. Probing the defense for easy baskets is something that great "point" guards can all do. Pushing the break to see If an easy basket is available on every available oppurtunity, and having the handle and intelligence to know when to probe back out to the perimeter and get an efficient playcall. Chris Paul, Steve Nash and Rajon Rondo are the best at it in my opinion. Aaron Brooks hasn't a clue because he is so offensive minded which is not always a bad thing, and Rafer just didn't have the ability to get in the lane with quickness, along with the patience and skill it takes to stay in the lane with a dribble. Lowry and Brooks go straight to the rim thinking shot, or foul. Ish goes in thinking pass, and his patience once he gets to the middle with his ridiculous quickness is what is setting him apart.
    3. I would agree, but I would also say that he has made great decisions with every single one of his passes so far [Daryl Morey Twitter], has not turned the ball over, and has pushed when available, and most importantly has let the offense run it's course when nothing is available. I would call it controlling tempo. We can agree to disagree on that.
    4. That is a fantastic point.

I would be open to a Nash deal, maybe let him tutor Lowry/Ish... Nash has many of the same talents, but they are far more refined, and he can also shoot runners!

Executed the game plan for the W. Consistency is key to turn the corner. @yaoming progressing well. Ish w/32 gr8 passes & only 1 bad so far.

Let me try to summarize where Ish is:

    - can't shoot, but maybe will get better.
    - Seems good at controlling the tempo and distributing the ball.
    - It's only a game and a half. Basically, he'll get better in time, but OTOH, he might be playing over his head right now.
    - He is a real player, who didn't even cost a 2nd-rounder, that every other team had a chance to sign but didn't.. ANOTHER MOREY STEAL!

When Ish throws those side bounces to the corners I'm thinking Scola-Prigioni except Scola hasn't been on the receiving end of those or at least not often enough.

Smith is 8-32 from fg. A bit expensive.

    yeah he cant shoot.

but given time in the league 90%+ of players expand their shooting repertoire, learning to see the court and distribute is something that a majority of guards (no exaggeration we have a couple examples of that on the Rockets the past 5 years) can't learn as a skill through their time in the NBA

b****ing about his shooting is ****ing r****ded. you dont think he can learn to roll a little tear drop or work on a pull up jumper??? that doesn't even make sense. it's like b****ing about FT shooting. for the vast majority of players, a little midranged game or jumpers are the one area that you can improve on through work. same thing with defense. just about every player who actually tries and actually gets PT will improve on their defense.

what you can't "work on" is your vision, your athleticism and your instincts. and ish has those. other than fast breaks having ish in the game seemed to slow down the tempo... if nothing else than because you didn't have both brooks and martin out there dominating the ball their their shooting. any game Houston wins you're going to need at least 1/3 off the offensive production from the frontcourt a la scola, Yao, etc.

lol there's so much armchair psychology. dont you all make this complicated. the team "came together" because they played a ****-ass team last night. that's #1 by a mile.

it's not brooks or ish that's going to determine the fate of the team this year. it's still 1)Yao's development 2)ability to make stops and win as a team in the 4th quarter

Some posts here remind me of guys saying Rondo will never be a great player cause of his jumpshot (like 2 years ago). You can always develop your shooting-game, but the natural things like vision, defensive iq and instincts are given. That's why Brooks will never be a starting pg for a contending team, he's more of a 6th man like Terry or JR. Brooks has no upside from now, he will always stay a shooter. Ish on the other hand has the potential to be a great playmaker and defender.

He has some CP3 esque highlight dimes last night and had the highest +/- of everyone that played. He's looking like the truth.

    What a steal.

Look at this undrafted kid, I think AB is way overated..........AB is not a play maker, he is a pure scoring machine........

Saved me the keystrokes. If rafer never had tracy, this is what he would look like. Rafer was a true ball handler and pg, but he was playing alongside one of the best passer in the nba also. I always said playing rafer with tracy was a negative even though they won games. Rafer with tracy negates rafers strong points which is setting up teammates, controlling pace and tempo, and running the break to highlight his weakness, shooting.

I like underdog stories and Ish may be one of those stories, but the team is only as good as the weakest player and with Ish, he's the worse starter. I hope he improves to the point we can dumb lowry and his mle contract and Ish can run the 2nd teamers.

I love Ish's passing ability, speed, court vision but this dude has no SHOT.... I hate to say it but once teams start to figure him out they will let him have the open jumper 90% of the time and double teaming our main shooters.... And then I hear how he had a horrible shooting percentage in College just makes me sad... :( Why can't we have a PG that does it all.... Sorry guys but I doubt he will ever develop a good shot.. If you couldn't do it in Elementary,Middle,AAU,Highschool,College then your somehow going to develope it in the Pros?

How is the college player of the yr and #6 draft pick a underdog? Hayes is a underdog,Ish can be one, miller was one also. Battier is a underachiever.

yea he can't shoot..but he does everything else amazingly..low turnover..great passing and crossovers..rajon rondo in the making and a steal. However, the hopeless players on rockets are courtney lee brick shooter and overated defense..but the worst is jermaine taylor: i just don't see him making it in the nba.
