Never thought I would say this, but he just might be the perfect Morey PG next to Harden. That shot chart is money!
He's been pretty amazing since the slow start. How is his point guard play? Can he play it? Or is he another AB?
for where he went in the draft and our style of play, I would be very content with another AB. He's also thicker than AB, so presumably his defense should eventually become better than AB's. He averages 10 assists a game but that number is inflated because of the super fast pace they play. His assist turnover ratio is 2.88 this season.
he is. If he played great defense he really would be but offensively he is perfect next to harden. I see him being our PG during our contention run.
I wonder if that means AB will be dealt again. Seems like every year we have too many point guards. It's like Morey has a lock on discovering them and likes to keep an extra on the roster just to trade halfway through season.
The Knicks really need a point guard and we're getting close to the annual 'Morey rapes the Knicks' time. The Bulls could also use a point guard and they have some interesting assets.
I'm not saying he won't be a good player, but from watching a few of these games or at least parts of them, what I'm seeing happening in-game isn't anything like he'll face in the NBA. The defenses seem pathetic and many times a lot of these shots are wide open. Also consider all the incredible scoring and shooting we've seen in the past in the D-League that didn't translate to the NBA or at least give those shooters much of an NBA career. The fact he's doing well means he's got a shot (literally), but to what extent, I don't know. Just because these guys are putting up great numbers doesn't mean they'll translate to consistent NBA numbers especially when the Viper defense is giving up a ton of points, too, which could mean these guys aren't playing much defense. Not playing defense won't fly in the NBA. One thing to note about Canaan's shot is that his 3 point shots weren't falling earlier in the season, but they are now.
