It's possible that Lin was more of a Les move. And at the time we signed Lin and Asik, we didn't think we were going to be very good. Harden came later.
Possibly yes. But I prefer a much larger body of evidence before making a decision. We shall see after another 15 games or so when there is sufficient sample size to begin a proper evaluation.
It's his version of "selling the closer" from Moneyball. Get a PG, pump them up by playing them at a high pace next to Harden and sell high.
He just needs time on the floor to improve. Before we pass judgments, at least give him until the All Star Break or even the year.
Models himself after Harden? If you see his nbdl highlights he always took it to the hole hard. It seems he never averaged that many assists throughout his career though.
I don't know - he still seems a bit like a tweener to me. He has played well enough in a reserve role and I could see him long term as a sparkplug off the bench guy, but I don't think he'll ever be a guy you can start for 80+ games if you want to be competitive. ....the last game was more of a commentary on Curry's lack of defense. I mean he put up 32, and gave up 21 to a guy who was in danger of being cut from an NBA roster a few weeks ago. Don't get me wrong, I like what I have seen from Canaan, but let's not go overboard just yet. He has to play that way against guys who aren't complete sieves on defense before I'll get excited.
What makes you say that? I don't remember much of young Brandon, but I remember him pretty well when he used to kill Steve Francis with the Twolves. As I recall, Terrell's game was ALL about the midrange - shot few threes and never attacked the basket. But his midrange game was awesome. Brandon also was somewhat slightly built. Canaan is like the epitome of Morey's offense - all threes or attacking the basket, NO midrange. Just found the comparison curious.
Wait, were their reports of Canaan being in danger of being cut? I don’t remember he was ever even considered.
Man you guys are harsh. Against Curry’s worthless defense Collison 4-12 CP3 6-15 Lillard 4-18 Lin 0-6 Bledsoe 2-6 (not sure about this since I don’t know who Steph guarded, Dragic went off) So if Canaan’s good day is product of Curry’s bad defense, what were those other scrubs doing before the Rockets played them?
And Canaan will be the backup if/when Bev gets healthy. This early season injury could be a blessing in disguise. It's giving Canaan extra playing time and valuable experience he may not have gotten otherwise and unlike D-Mo, he's taking full advantage of it. So imagine how good that guard rotation will be when Bev returns to the lineup, and we're bringing Canaan and Terry(and occasionally Daniels) off the bench. The best thing about Canaan's play so far is that similar to Ariza, he's stepped right in to replace the production of a departing player and has done a far superior job. Now all we need is to go out and find someone to take Asik's place and maintain this defense(and God willing stay healthy) for the entire season.
