I have a feeling that having Ish Smith coming in as the pre season backup pg and comments the from Mchale was tactical. It made Isaiah pay a lot more attention to defense and it shows. He is by no means can be considered a defensive stopper yet but also not a liability. He also seems to be running the offense well and seems to thrive in he 4th. He is young and has a lot of room to grow. I am rooting for him and hopefully, he can be the consistent offensive spark off the bench and put the backup pg question to rest.
When Chris Paul says a dude can play, you can take it to the bank, dude can play. Yes, he is holding down his trigger finger and trying to fit in. Yes, I have been surprised by his defense. No, I am not the least bit surprised with his offensive play. Whoever said he lacks court vision hasn't watched him enough. He's got great vision. It's only hindered by the fact he's about 5'10". And he can't change that. If Harden goes down, you will see Canaan light up the scoreboard big time. And even if Harden doesn't go down it will become clearer and clearer that Canaan is the obvious second playmaker on this team and will have to be on the floor when Harden sits. Oh...........he's better than Lin......still.
Not sure if we would be comfortable if we take away a good offensive weapon off the bench. Our starters are fine offensively, it's the bench where we need help in that regards. Having said that, I can see him being a very good option when the game is close in the 4th. We should really need drop the notion that the best 5 always has to start. 5 rings by the Spurs should be enough evidence that this formula works.
The game is about confidence and it's amazing what a player can do when he's confident. Canaan played with superb confidence last night v. a top 5-7 player. Hopefully he can build on this.
Bobby J is a stretch. Bobby J was a cold blooded shooter and could create his shot. Midrange or three it don't matter. Caannann, I just hope he makes his open set 3.
I could be OK with either of them starting. Glad Canaan is showing so much promise, though. Hate to say it, but I have very little faith in Bev's ability to hold up over the course of a season at this point.
The big thing about Canaan is him gaining his confidence of late. He's had the tools to be a great fit next to Harden. He's quick, strong and heady with a great stroke. I've noticed his effort on D this year as well, and his quickness/stockiness was giving TP some issues (which the refs naturally started blowing the whistle for).
This whole team in general has been playing well. I feel that the guys that we replaced Lin and Parsons with have a lot of character and totally understand their roles. Talk about an upgrade.
Yes sir the young man can ball for show. He is playing under control and with a lot of confidence. I love his defense intensity.
We were at the game. Both feel he was the steadiest Rocket last night. harden had an off game, they will happen. Too bad the early 3's didn't go in for anybody....except D Mo ! Oh my. That was weird. yeah a dominate center was definitely a missing element last night.
