More like: A promising swingman with unbelievable athleticism, who can defend FOR A PG who is potentially backup quality at NBA level (real good shooter though). And we only gave up a 2nd??? McDaniels has a lot in his favour, the main downside is that he gets paid at seasons end. But we now have the choice to match - good insurance plan in the event we can make a bigger move with Brewer or Ariza....
DMo almost succumbed to a similar fate through Mcfail's mismanagement. Canaan is no DMo but he's a very nice prospect.
Canaan in the D league looked good. Right now, he's playing for a D league team. Is anyone surprised he looked good?
Canaan has tunnel vision. I can see why Rockets gave up on him. The guy just does not know how to run the offense...always looking to get his. Maybe he will learn to play the PG position down the road. He definitely lacks the PG instincts though.
Not enough. You need someone that can do both. Need another playmaker on the perimeter, one that can not just score for himself but setup others as well.
well thats obv not Bev and right now Bev can't play/isn't playing defense either. Might as well have given Canaan a shot before bailing on him...
He is Aaron Brooks v.2.0, who is Calvin Murphy v.2.0. Great shooter, exceptional speed, undersized, not very good at setting up teammates, poor defender.
Exactly. We have been suffering from this problem for the last 3 years, yet it is amazing that some people are unable to recognize this. Morey would have never gone after Goran, if this was not so.
Make excuses all you want, Canaan would've been better than what Beverley is giving us right now as a starter.
Hmm...did you see his Detroit appearance? 0 for 6 , zero playmaking, and absolutely horrible matador defense. McHale may be a lot of things, but he won't give anyone playing time unless he earns it...and it seems Canaan's practice showings were not much better than the Detroit game.
