It would have to be DH I would think. If this means he is going to put off the surgery and have it later, I hope it doesn’t impact his return in 2026. If both he and Alvarez come back then I guess Alvarez would have to go to LF. Then it becomes a battle between Cam and Sanchez for RF, I guess. It would be a good problem to have if everyone comes back and everybody starts hitting again.

I think it’s very safe to say we don’t see him in 26, since he won’t have the surgery for a few months now. Hopefully 27 he’s back.

He's not just putting off surgery - he's trying PRP and rehab. It's been done before - there was a famous Yankees pitcher (Tanaka) a decade or so back that did it and avoided Tommy John surgery. If you can actually fix it without surgery, you're way better off long-run both in MLB and in life - but its a big if.

That said, the only person that can really credibly respond as to the likelihood of success would be his doctors.

EDIT: Chris Sale did the same a couple of years back apparently.

So you think he is foregoing possibility to play for the entire 26 season for hopes to play towards the end of 25? Don't think that makes much sense. My read is that he is choosing to forego surgery all together for hopes of expedited recovery.

We have seen how astros injuries turn out, just prepared for the worst. I do think it’s foolish he’s waiting for the surgery though.

I’m hoping that Paredes was told that if the PRP doesn’t work he can still have time to get surgery and be back for 2026 so no real downside to trying.

Damn shame. With Yordan out, he became the team's much-needed power hitter and was crucial to their success. 19 home runs. As many as he had last season in 70 fewer games. Probably would have surpassed his career high of 31 (2023). At least, for him personally, he made it to the All-Star Game this year.

I thought the rehab for surgery was like 6 months? If he doesn't get it soon and waits a few months, no way he's back for the start of 26 season, maybe allstar break?

He's trading a chance to play in April/May for a chance to play in Sept/Oct (and avoid surgery and an extensive rehab). Not an unreasonable decision for him or for the team.
