This isn’t (or shouldn’t be) a shocking post. He is a generational talent, 100%. It is absolutely sick how good he could have been with some maturity. The insane highlights we would have had. Anyone that loves basketball has to be disappointed. I hope he figures it out before it is too late.
He is only 23.....right? And he is ripped - finally maturing - people give up on young players when they are still trying to figure out how to be adults....Zion seems to have figured out that he needs to work hard, and if that happens he will take New Orleans to the top of the West, he is that good. DD
He definitely is that guy If he matures. That said, it is very possible that it never happens. Derrick Coleman should have been an all-time great too, and he gave us essentially only two season of magnificent basketball, his 3rd and 4th seasons. If Derrick Coleman would have gotten his fat butt in shape, there is no telling how good he could have been. He could DO IT ALL.
I thought I read that it is not all about being out of shape and immaturity, but he has some genetic deficiencies in body makeup that will continue to make him an injury risk. I enjoy watching him play and hope him the best, but wouldn’t trade for him with an unreal contract and that injury concern.
I heard this story before. Someone needs to make the Zion version. Gets fat, gets injured, off-season workout video looks good, repeat cycle.
Ever heard of Brandon Roy? Greg Oden? Kawhi Leonard? Zion has issues more than just being lazy or not working hard. He is a generational talent and would've been an all star even if he was lazy AF just like Melo.
Hopefully he is more head strong than Ben Simmons but anybody would have doubts looking how thicc he is built. That is just not athlete material, he has to work double hard versus the normal athlete to just be close to normal. A shame but that is the harsh reality.
“I can tell you Zion Williamson has been in our gym more than he has in his entire career in the offseason,” Griffin said. “He has been in New Orleans virtually all offseason, which is different.” Source: CHRISTIAN CLARK @ New Orleans Times-Picayune
good PR team guys acting like "hE JuSt NeEdS mAtURiTY" like that isn't the single most difficult aspect to becoming a force in this league lmao
