Well he had a bad game last night that brought down his average but he has been a 20/10 guy for at least part of this season.
Kings would go for the Champion if they got Yao. They have best premiter shooters and a coach brings out a Bigman's talent to the max. And by the way, Yao would get to 20-10 category 2 years ago if he plays under an offensive-minded coach. But too bad he plays for Van Gundy, who's making the game ugly and Keeping the score to the lowest. just about anyone who plays for Van Gundy would get worse numbers. So you ppl, think about whom Yao is playing for before criticizing his numbers.
When you have the hype of being the next Shaq, you will most likely disappoint a lot of people if you aren't putting up at least 20 & 10. Yao is a very good player but will never be the dominate force people thought he would be.
That's all I'm sayin'. I apologize for those earlier posts. That was Happy Hour talking. But I DO feel he's a bit overrated. At least for now. I wouldn't wanna trade him, or give up on him ... but I really do wish he would step it up a little more. Maybe it IS Ewing? I have no idea. I'd like to think that it's not the coaching staff that's holding him back. & he already is a success story. Feeling pressure from millions has to be insane. If he can somehow make himself a 20/10 guy, man ... I'd say "no" to the overrated stuff. I don't think that's too much to ask considering his ability. He has the tools. We've seen flashes. Just wish he'd play with the intensity that he did in last year's playoffs. He was awesome. I was really expecting big things after that. Weren't you guys? Talk about turning a corner! But he kinda looks like he's regressed.
I would say Yao is extremely under-appreciated by the fans in general. Many fans don't realize how important Yao is, let's just trade him for a bag of penut or whatever. He is right where I expect him to be in terms of progress each year. Although I do think that JVG could absolutely use him in better ways.
